Cleaned a big farmhouse yesterday and was embarrassed to take the money.
Old grey render over leaded windows!! There were limescale and lead deposits everywhere and they hadn't been cleaned in 7 years.
I ended up removing some of the limescale from the windows with a scraper it was that bad. Scrubbed and scrubbed with a Harpic limescale remover on scrims but it wouldn't touch the stuff.
I left the job feeling completely dejected and like a bloody crook. However it's a 4 monthly job and I have promised to return in the interim free of charge with some heavier duty cleaning equipment.
Would TFR remove these kinds of deposits on the glass or are the window knackered. I've never used the stuff so need some advice on this one please.

TFR won't touch it. Mineral deposit remover is what you need. Its slow going even with the right chem tho. Use 0000 wire wool to help polish it up.

It sounds more like glass restoration than window cleaning. I probably would phone the guy and explain my concerns and I wouldn't feel like a crook either; you did your best.

Will try the wire wool and mineral deposit remover next time.
Just out of interest does TFR have any adverse effect on certain conservatory roofs. Thinking of getting some for the grubbier jobs I pick up but am concerned it may cause damage to coated glass etc.

Use non caustic TFR or ecover truck wash and you'll be fine. Best not to let it dry on the glass tho.
