Title: Chemspec faux suede newsletter

I didn't know there was 2 types of faux suede  ???. Ive never dry cleaned one before and never had a problem with wet cleaning these. Has anyone ever had a problem with the water based adhesive ones?

The very same thought came to me when I read this. Like you I have only come across
the wet clean ones.

Hi Guys

There are several different ways of sticking fibres.

Solvent based adhesive and water based adhesive are both generic terms and within each of these there are lots of different adhesives which could be used, such as acrylics, pva's, sbr's etc.

Hot melt is an adhesive which contains a fair bit of resin and which is sticky when molten but not when cool.

In practical terms when cleaning Faux Suede, I would also use water, solvent is too dangerous and be careful with temperature also.

Remember the water based adhesives are a bit like emulsion paint, although water 'soluble' when wet, they have quite good water resistance once they have dried/reacted.
