Scroll down to just beneath where she's using the orange Extracta.
Quote "This has the power to clean a large 4 bedroom house within an hour or so..."
I'll bet you TM users can't match that.

John,
i wouldn't want to.
"Splash n Dash" springs to mind when you see something like that.

I've put 3 offers in.... £0.99-£1.00 and £1.01... all declined ???
-
Adverts like this make me want to drive to their place, kick the door down and shove the 'extracta 4 bed house in one hour wand' right up their where the sun don't shine.
I'm clearly doing something wrong if my wife can't take the transit out and do £1,000 a week carpet cleaning, sh-t I wish I was doing £1,000 a week carpet cleaning.
Why does flea bay allow this rubbish?
-
Neil,
obviously you need an Extracta, then you could ;D

Steady boys or your going to upset the guy who runs the operation. I had an exchange of emails with him some time ago and he informed me that, "basically, carpet cleaners are all just trained monkeys" and "that he could do 8 to 10 two bed flats @£48 each per day".
Apparently, I'm also "slow and will be out of business within months" where as he has "been in business for over 25 years and has helped loads of people".
I was going to continue the dialogue with him but came to the conclusion that, anyone who does go to him for advice proberbly is a "monkey".
-
Strange, I dont get Peanuts for my services, but he does ;)

Try the 'Ask a Question' function on his fleebay site and see what response you get. Perhaps he'll be more polite with you.

Hey that's where I am going wrong. £48 a throw and I only need 50 jobs to fill my week. Hmnn On second thoughts.
-
Paul, you have ago at anyone if you like ;) Whatever planet someone's on suggesting a four bed house can be cleaned in that time frame is taking the michael. Although he could be on Uranus ;D
-
ocasionally we get idiots like that on here
If i remember rightly we had so fast he had time to take a bathin the customer house.
He drove a BMW
;D ;D
laims
thats been on ebay for years but i think machine has been upgraded.
Problem is you have to make out of this planet claims to get people to buy
In my opinion this one should be a case for Trading standards
-
Guys she is in my town and there are loads of carpet cleaners here running truckmounts(6 at least) so i dont think she is doing that well.Just a bit of b s me thinks.Regards Alan(swindon)
-
Difference is I turn my vacuums on ;D
-
I emailed him that "I could not even do a four bed with a Truckmount in one hour, he must be just wetting the carpet not cleaning it"
his or her reply;
Hi
Yes, you are right...you could not do it!!!
...but we could...
...we know what we are doing because we have
been running this business for over 27 years
Truckmounts are useless by the way...we scrapped all ours...the don't clean well enough...
...so, you would not be good enough to work for or company in the first place
Good luck though
-
Well that's you told then Craig !
Dump the truckmount, cut every corner and in a few years you might be good enough to work for him ;D
-
he he its funny ;D ;D
I tempted to reply to him/her, but I wont as there is just no getting through to some people! A nutcase I think ;D

The best way to respond to a muppet like that is ignore him... I was going over there to email him a piece of my mind, but he probably enjoy's it. We all have standards and you do not have standards like ours cleaning that in one hour. If you're local ask for a demo ;D
-
Craigp
Looks like you got the same response as I did except he also informed me that as he operated in the most deprived (or could have been depraved) area of the country (Swindon, he could only charge the £48 a time. Not calling into question his charges, thats his business, but to sell the idea to newbies of cleaning a four bed in one hour is, as Ian Gourlay suggests, a case for trading standards, or if not, the Adverting Standards Authority.
-
Swindon is no down trodden town it might not be the most interesting place to live but there is a load of quality areas of 3 and 4 bed houses to target here so where he gets deprived i dont know.Regards Alan(swindon)

Notice of MotionThe Trade Bodies Claim they want to improve standards in The Industry
We agree that this company is misleading Newcomers and thus damaging the industry.
I hereby call on the Industries Trade Bodies to pursue this company
Through Ebay
Trading Standards
Extracta
Advertising Standards
-
This merchant may not be any good (or maybe is) at cleaning carpets but he can put the speil together.
-
don't understand where this person is being miss leading, if its the 4 bed in an hour, then whats wrong with that, there not claiming that it will be a good job.
trading standards wouldn't even bother. its just us being pedantic.
sorry guys but all though i don't like ass wipes like these people, there not actually breaking any laws.
any sensible person would realise that if he or she has to sell trivia on ebay then there not doing that well at the profession they claim there good at. and its not like there flying off the shelf. ;D
we could get together and flood ebay with the truth, thats the only thing we could do to combat litrature like this.
all for one. power to the cc's.
i'm planning a youtube vid that puts a rug doctor against a trucky. soon as i get a friendly custy with a minger. watch this space ;D
-
Derek, if you could do some special effects like your TM sucking up the Rug Doctor then that really would be a big laugh.
-
joe
not sure which way to go yet, funny is good but also thinking maybe serious with a serious message, can't decide.
-
For showing to the public you would have to do a "serious" demo clearly showing the qualities that the RD lacks compared to a pro machine.
My other suggestion would be a good laf for us c/cleaners.
-
Derek. You raise some valid points however, I have to disagree with you re:misleading claims. Advertising Standards require any claims made can be validated in, or by, practice. If the IICRC or other trade body was to challenge this guys Ebay ad and the ASA became involved he would have to show that his claims of service were acurate (and honest).
We all have to abide by ASA rules and it's only when false claims are challenged that they will become involved. Having met you at the CCDO I assume you give your customers the best service you can and don't mislead them with nonsense which would not only disappoint them but lose you a hard won customer.
-
OK guys - I couldnt resist it - sent him a email from the ebay advert
My comments to him were:-
How can you clean a large 4 bed house in "an hour or so". Lets say 90 minutes to do 4 bedrooms, 2
reception rooms, a hall, stairs and landing.
I just wish you were nearer and I would hire you just to see this done.
I do,though, think you are seriously misleading any would be newbie to
carpet cleaning - which cannot be right.
His reply.........
Well, you seem a little upset. What's the problem? We have a full Elecrical contracting company. A full plumbing and heating company. We have full blown domestic and commercial cleaning companies running 24/7 365 days per year.
We are busy, busy, busy and work very hard. That's why we are the No1 company in our area...and have been for 27 years.
Your problem is simple...
You DO NOT work hard enough or quickly enough.
If you are happy with what you do...GREAT......we don't hire negative complainers like you...in fact...they don't last one week with us...
My advise...
Go and get a job in McDonalds or something like that because you certainly ARE NOT cut out for the carpet cleaning business, and my 90 year old granny can do that compared to real graft like plumbing and heating installations...
Honestly, carpet cleaning is the easiest job in the world...its not real work...I have never broken out in a sweat and I'm almost 55 now.
I really am trying to get my head round why you think this is difficult.
We do carpet cleaning for free sometimes just as an add on to our plumbing jobs its that easy!!
Oh, and if you think thats grafting...we install a full blown central heating system in a 4 bed house
in one day. Everything...and that included the rip out. And...it is to the highest spec and standards required for inspection by independent surveyors...
You made my day...

Looks like McDonalds here I come......
-
if he's that busy then 1) why is he selling crap on ebay and 2) how quick did he reply? now thats busy ;D
from his comments he's a typical ebay lout. the ones to avoid, maybe we should chip in and buy 1 then leave the pootttttest feedback possible with the allotted characters ;D
-

Maybe... but The Angela's Angels Website is getting virtually zero traffic.
-
Joe, on the positive side he didn't call you a monkey ;D
-
Thats true Adi, but I dont compare too well against his 90 year old Granny. :o
-
I would not let this man near my boiler!
:o ;D
He obviously has no clue about CLEANING carpets, he's just whipping over them.
Real carpet cleaning is extremly hard work.
-
Send him these, tell him this is cleaning; (minging student house I did today)
-
After
-
55 With a 90 year old Granny ,, how does that work.
-
Jasonl
That's an easy calculation but you have to be a qualified plumber to work it out ;)
Craigp
Better idea; you send him the pics and you to can join our growing troop of monkeys. And if your very good you can join Joe at McDonalds 8)
-
Alan,
Book her in to come round and do your house, it has to be worth it just for the experience!
I have all the kit and know it takes 10 mins to fill the machine up, vac a 4 bed house at least 1/2 hour. etc etc. God I'm getting wound up here.
Go on Alan, heres my fiver, any body else?
Murky
-
Assuming the machine is full and the hoses connected , no pre vac or pre spray .
They could easily spray and suck over a 4 bed house in an hour, the water would be dirty too. so they are in thier rights to claim what they do . They are full of crap though!
-
Yep go on, I'll chip in.
Hold on a mo, will Alan want his carpets destroying?
-
Lads its tempting to have them round but dont think the mrs would be too impressed.I think this outfit is summed up in one word BIB the woman wearing a cleaners BIB cleaning carpets surely wouldnt impress any real life customers i have come across in the last ten years. My portable i had previous to my steamway 9100lx truckmount was the powerflite in blue and with me on the end(quite a big guy) it looked like it could do the business and did this is just silly marketting in my opinion but some people with rentals will use them no doubt.Regards Alan(swindon)
-
Don't point them my way either, I'd much rather waste £20 down the bookies on a long shot. ;D
Alan, how about a meet up for a beer, we could drown our sorrows worrying about this professional competion we've got.

Cheers

Here's another reply ::)
Hi
My granny of 90 could do the job we do. It's only a 10% part of our business. Only complete losers take longer than an hour. That's where you are going wrong. Sell the truck mount..."Rubbish" don't clean as well as Rug Doctors...in fact...amateurs use truckmounts.
We clean 100,000 meters of carpet a month...not with truck mount...we use proper kit...
You are CLEARLY an idiot who has no idea of what they are doing...
When you want to learn something ask us...until then go play with your toys...you obviously know zero about carpets...
Goo luck though...
Hope you do well with your "truck mount"

We take the time and trouble to carry out all your jobs to the highest standard including those little jobs that many plumbers do not want to do! No job is too small and we have a reputation for being one of the most reliable local plumbers in Swindon. We actually do what we say we will.

He He, reading his replies is really funny! ;D
email him some different questions, he says if you need help ask, so ask him how to clean a carpet and whats the best machine?
he's one funny dude! ;D love it!
-
I tried my hardest today....
did 2 bedrooms (main bedroom size) inc moving not a lot of furniture
2 flights of stairs (3 story house)
small lanidn on top floor
large landing on middle floor.
so not equivalent to a 4 bed house - still short of it.
Took me 2 hours and sweat (mind you, I can sweat at the thought of work. I wear a head band and I squeezed it afterwards and it dripped sweat.
Mind you vacuuming took 30 minutes, maybe their houses dont need vacuuming.
-
He can do the next house I get with wool naturals throughout that GlynnE had trouble with ::)
piece of p*ss! (for a ninety year old)

My wife is sat next to me on the settee while I watched the video, she is a nurse , nothing to do with carpet cleaning , she said" what the hell is he doing, that carpet looks soaking!"

People pay for that job?
I'm clearly doing something very very wrong.
