is a 51% bounce rate too high?

hi there

are you talking emails bounce, or hits to website?

if website then all the bounce rate shows is that they enter and leave on the first page, therefore not navigating through the site.

therefore the page they land on, needs to grab them, if you are looiking for people to view through the website.

colin its when people go to your website and just look at the first page the arrive at,  then bounce out of your website

i've got a 51% bounce rate but the average time on the site is 1 minute 53 secs

hello mike

at the end of the day, if the client gets the info they need, and then ring you for a quote then you would guage that the site is working.

i have a friend, not in clenaing, but he always asks where a client got his name, and the two answers are, from a friend who has used you before, or from the web.

therefore i take the view that as long as the site communicates the right message and gets the visitor to action their visit.

My average on national lottery is 2min see Mrs. K has just won £2.00! ebay far exceeds this ??? oh looking at decking some crap sites  ;D

51% could be good, but could also be bad. if the customer trusts you and gets all they need from the page they land on then you'll have a high bounce rate.

you want to look into your conversion rate as that's the more important one :)

51% is respectable.

Do many of your visitors come from oversees? When they realise  you are UK they click away skewing your averages.

It's probably one of the things you least need to worry about.
