Who back flushes their RO with pure water, does it help the membranes last longer?

I flush my membrane for about 5 minutes after I've made water. June at Gaps Water said this was fine.
I think with 'backflushing' you're referring to an Ionics system or similar with maybe a manual water softener. You have to maually regenerate the softener resin with salt and backwash. I've heard people refer to this before. Bit confusing All you're doing is just regenerating your softener resin with the salt. This can take an hour or so.

actually traps it takes 10 mins and is a real pain in the .... so i got a 30 litre softener which does the house as well as the van
To flush the ro all there is to do is open the flush valve fully and connect your pure hose to the fill up and flush for 20 mins ans then check the tds which on mine reads 000 after 10 mins so it must be clean i would think ??thats it

I got a diy static setup and now have an automatic water softener as I had a big manual one before. I forgot to switch the hoses around on regeneration though and totally wrecked my membrane. It's impossible to send salt through your RO with an automatic softener.
