Hi, i've been going for 4 or 5 months, just domestics so far using just a carpet brush for aggitation and getting good results.I have got a pub wool patterned carpet coming up with 2 patches of black top about 3x3ft each(the rest of the carpet is not too bad).Is a carpet brush enough with some powerburst as i don't have time to buy sebo ect,as i a going on hols tommorow(touchwood) and the job is straight after.I know a place that hires rotarys cheap, but are they safe on a wool carpet with a shampoo brush. The guy that rents the rotary machines out thinks bonnets will be safer and do the job,but will bonnets make a difference to black top!cheers dave.

add some citra boost, will help, test first though, have to say that or i get shouted at. ;D
-
Don’t hirer spend the money on more advertising, dwell time is all you need
-
a shampoo brush is quite soft so I there will be no problem on a wool carpet ( but there are always exceptions)
I use a harder scrub brush which is a lot more aggressive.
the key with blacktop is to break the surface so the pre-spray can penetrate into the soil I've used a fork in the past to rake up the thick top.
-
With bad black top ,, you are hardly going to manage to cause more problems by heavy scrubbing in .
-
Hot PB with citra boost added.
As Len says get it down straight away and leave it.
Wand it as hot as you can get it and if need be pre spray and dwell again.

Prochem PowerBurst will do the trick without any problems. If the soiled areas are really bad then allow upto 10 maybe 15 minutes of dwell time if you are using a portable. If using a truckmount just a few minutes dwell time wil be enough. Either way the key on the extraction is to get the water nice & hot. This will cut through the black top like a hot nife through butter.

Get yourself one of these http://www.mptools.co.uk/products.asp?partno=245130 quicker than a fork. It has a short handle so you might want to extend it.

Brilliant idea, the benefit of forums eh boys, Im off to get mine now cos I do a few pubs and allways end up scrubbin and a rubbin the black top.
Have a good week end and sorry to hear about your failed holiday keyplus.
Just looking at BBC news and they say airlines will have to pay up for lost hols etc, though you will have to wait for ever and a day for your hard earned dosh.

You may want to think again about Prochem Powerburst.
I'm after some myself and the label reads NOT SUITABLE FOR WOOL or WOOL MIX CARPETS...
-
Used it on wool before and never a problem.

No problem using it on wool carpet, just rinse thoroughly with fib/fab or similar.
I wouldn't use it on "clean" wool carpets as it's overkill, but it is an extremely effective pre-spray and I always have a tub of it on the van.
-
dont leave it on too long and rinse with fibre & fabric to rebalance the ph on wool but pre-test in another area first.

Lets face it...with the amount of soilage in a pub carpet, your just working through layers
of gunk to get to the original carpet, woolsafe pre-sprays just ain't gonna cut it.
ultrapac renovate scrubbed in is wicked too. ;D

Aonther alterative to power burst is Hydramasters Blitz added with their grease breaker. Iv'e used both on dirty rotten carpets with black top and this was alot better.

Give it a light tap with a wire brush same on hard chewing gum break the back on it let the pre spray in to work. Power bursts fine on trashed wool go in hard or your be there to last orders on wool safe chems. fib fab rinse. ££££

Nice one hope you have arranged to clean again in near future
Regular cleaning in these situations prevents the heavy build up of soiling saving the landord expensive bills in replacing in the long run get in now while he still has his wallet open oops i mean his mouth.
