Title: Credit card payments ..... the sequel
Post by: mlscontractcleaner on April 15, 2010, 11:23:33 am
Had a call from a guy at " Streamline " today offring me a quote for the mobile card processor. It's not cheap :-\

£70 + vat for setting up the machine.
£150 + vat for setting up the account.
£27 + vat per month for the use of the processor
2.6% for each credit card transaction
36p for each debit card transaction
A minimum of £15 per month on all transactions.

So, I must pay a minimum of £46 per month in fees to have the machine. I'd have to push a lot of window and carpet cleaning customers towards card payments just to make it worthwhile.

As a lot of our window cleaning ( domestic ) customers are £6 flats I'd have to have a minimum of 100 card payers a month to make it worthwhile so to be honest I think I'll wait for six months and think about it again then.

Apparently if I belong to a trade organisation it'll be cheaper, by £1 per month ;)

I reckon the cost of card payments will come down as cheques are phased out...

Have to say this is a tiop post.
We all should have a mobile phone, most go online so no need for a chip and pin from the quick looks of it.

Now just just to see if there are any drawbacks on it.

Why not just ask your customer's to set up a standing order from their bank account into yours every month on an agreeable date that you're both happy with. I tend to get mine paid in one week after the due date of the clean. Doesn't cost you a penny then.

Regards,
Lance

THat's fine so long as you never miss a clean.

What happens if you get a spell of weather like we recently experienced, with ice and snow all the time and you miss a month, do you give them a refund???
