Had a call from a guy at " Streamline " today offring me a quote for the mobile card processor. It's not cheap :-\
£70 + vat for setting up the machine.
£150 + vat for setting up the account.
£27 + vat per month for the use of the processor
2.6% for each credit card transaction
36p for each debit card transaction
A minimum of £15 per month on all transactions.
So, I must pay a minimum of £46 per month in fees to have the machine. I'd have to push a lot of window and carpet cleaning customers towards card payments just to make it worthwhile.
As a lot of our window cleaning ( domestic ) customers are £6 flats I'd have to have a minimum of 100 card payers a month to make it worthwhile so to be honest I think I'll wait for six months and think about it again then.
Apparently if I belong to a trade organisation it'll be cheaper, by £1 per month ;)

like i said before very expensive, cheaper to offer paypal all you need is their email address to send the invoice to if you don't have a website
-
I reckon the cost of card payments will come down as cheques are phased out...

www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_vt_hub-outside
Pricing
£20 monthly fee
1.9% - 3.4% + 20 pence per transaction
also you can have a rolling agreement each month to take a payment automatically off a customers card

They will waive them.

Have to say this is a tiop post.
We all should have a mobile phone, most go online so no need for a chip and pin from the quick looks of it.
Now just just to see if there are any drawbacks on it.

my mate had one for his spark business, never used it, was a waste of money, i have been trying to get custy to go on SAE or on line payments, most want to just pay cash

Why not just ask your customer's to set up a standing order from their bank account into yours every month on an agreeable date that you're both happy with. I tend to get mine paid in one week after the due date of the clean. Doesn't cost you a penny then.
Regards,
Lance

THat's fine so long as you never miss a clean.
What happens if you get a spell of weather like we recently experienced, with ice and snow all the time and you miss a month, do you give them a refund???
-
Or if they say," Not this time thanks ", do you give them a refubd for that too???
