can you not pull them off from the rear of the van daz?
stand on the wheel arch to tie them on ;D
-
I've found it a little bit of a stretch since I got my van as well, but I'm about 6 inches shorter than you. Always pull up with my ladders on the pavement side to make life easier now :D
-
open the back door and pull them off ;) or if using side door open that i am only 5ft6 and manage ;D
-
what sort of van have you got, we run escorts and partners and we just stand on the back wheel when we need to unclamp
-
no side door and i use ladder clamps!ill get my self some little steps.theyll come in handy for extra height while cleaning windows with a pole on some set back ones over kitchen extensions as well! ;) ;) ;D ;D ;D

You want some side stops at the end of your roof bars, (I just used exhaust brackets when I had my kangoo) so the ladder can't move either side. then you just use bungees. You'll need the right size to hook under bar, wrap round ladder once then hook under bar at other side of ladder. ;)
To get them on/off slide them off from the rear mate, not lift them off from the side.

You should have had a smaller van ;D

Get along to B&Q they sell a tiny aluminuim folding step, it will take you up about an extra 9", I paid about £5.95 for mine, now no stretching to get the ladders off, sorted
-
i wouldnt buy a roofrack as itll be even higher ! just buy 2 poles and using "u" clamps(as used on car exhausts) bolt the clamps straight thru the roof ,leaving a tiny gap of about 1 inch between the roof and the pole
i once did this for a builder who had a cube renault van
-
im only 5.6 can only just get my ladders off my car, do the old mini come in vans as i am stuffed ;D
-
Fit a roller bar at rear of roof rack. I've got a Transporter and roller bar is a doddle for ladders. Fit ladder stopper brackets at front and side to stop ladder moving forward and tie off at rear by roller. Simple to put on, take off and is kept secure with minimum effort.

get one of those racks that the sky vans have on them that pivot down at the back with your ladders on
-
sorted!put new roof rack(just 2 bars) on and i can open drivers door and stand on the frame to unlock them!.the back clamp i can reach from the back of the van as the bar is near the edge!
dont know what i was worrying about!! ;D ;D
in a few months ill be using them a lot less anyway! ;) ;) ;D ;D

when i got a transit , i purposely did away with the roof rack, forcing me away from ladders and as i never intended scraping gutters out......i was never going to use them again....
now i have a telescopic ladder for con roofs inside the van, and only use wpf....apart from a few insides.
best move i made to date.
