hi there

you will usually find that you will pay  a half day charge, or if you have enough kit to be tested, you will pay a per item charge.

Actually,

You only need PAT Testing done if you employ people or use equipment on site.

If you are a sole trader and no one is employed just you in you unit its not a  requirement. But if you have staff in or customers using or you take equipment on site to customers it shoiuld be pat tested.

You can go on the course for PAT Testing. I did and passed saves us a fortune. You can hire the machine. But you do need to be qualified.

Wonderful!

So no one checks? - The test is recorded in the memory of the machine... with a print out. There is a reference number as well of who tested the item(s).

And if you or more importantly a member of staff get a shock, or you damage equipment because of unsafe equipment and their is an investigation you the owner are in BIG trouble for fruad and neglect of employees.

I am a qualified PAT Tester and I know the importance of this..... Ive seen some awful things.

who has ever had a item that been tested  asked for varification that the test sticker is legit
a pat test means nothing only it comforms when tested
it should be visually inspected prior to use
any damage will or can occur when  in use this will happen whether tested or not
another excuse to relieve you of a few hard earned pound notes

Electrical testing of portable equipment will involve the following:
·   (i) Earth bond continuity tests
·   (ii) Insulation resistance testing
·   (iii) Functional checks

I would not say invalid ambiguous YES, as for the four years will be looking into it, always insist on Functional checks prior to plug in  :o
