EXEL XTEL POLE 17 FT
BRUSH:MONOFILAMENT WFPRO(FAN JET)
4X25L CONTAINERS
11L DI TANK
TULSION RESIN :£453-09(INCLU VAT)
do you think this will start me off while im savin for my van?just want to clean the odd awkward house for now till i get my trolley and van.
-
not sure of the choice of hose ends to get though on backpack and pole?hoselock/male/female threads?im confused?? ??? ??? ??? ???
-
when i first started i got more or less the same kit, daz i still have my pole, it needs tidying up and the clamps making good but its yours if you want it, free. the only thing i would say mate is get more containers, when i started out wfp i was using loads of water until i worked out how to use it all, you will go through 25 litres per 3 bed house at the start so you'll only clean 4 houses and then be out of water
-
Dazmond, it all sound's fine apart from the fan jet's. They are fine for large commercial sheet glass but for domestic work you really want the water to go exactly where you aim it and no where else whilst you are rinsing and pencil jet's are the best to do this. They are very accurate with just a wee bit of practice. You will find the fan jets tend to get the water onto vent's and lintels above the glass and have the greater potential to leave drips long after you have gone.

hi ste im thinking the backpack will still come in handy for some jobs even when i get my van and trolley set up and the pole ill use on roughly 60% of my current run of the mill work anyway.
i will be getting another 12 containers at a later date to take me up to 400 L for my van but to be honest i just want to get practicing on family and friends windows and get familar with the equipment before i unleash it onto the paying public!!
ive been talking about wfp fot too long i want to get stuck in to this new way of cleaning!! ;D ;D
thanks for the offer anyway ste ;) ;D ;D
-
the fanjets look good though ronnie!ive no intention of rinsing off the glass anyway!i should get a jet one as well to try out.i plan on cleaning all the frames on custys windows every time.obviously ill have to be careful with the window vents as i heard they can drip dirty water for ages after you ve gone!! ::) ::) ::)
-
have you got your tds meter?
honestly mate once you go wfp you wont look back, i reckon you will free up 2 days a week once you have your full van set up, i couldnt believe how much better and quicker it was when i did this, most of my work is compact so i can park my van up and clean 15 houses without moving
-
ste i got a tds meter about 6 months ago!my water is 35tds at the moment so DI ONLY should be fine for now!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
ive done a hell of a lot of research and i already have a wfp(unger extension pole with heavy brush!) that i use on fascia/soffit and conny roof cleans
-
i know you have done loads of research mate, just checking you had the meter thats all, im 65 on my tds and im still only di, i use 2 now though

I agree with Ronnie

Maybe go with a longer pole for the 3 storey houses / hard to reach windows. Sometimes my 18 just isn't long enough.
Grab a sack truck & a couple of bungees... Should cost about £20 and will save you carrying the backpack. That's how I'm doing it.
-
I would get your 18ft alloy hydra you said you were getting one anyway and get the gardiners superlite brush on it plus 2 DI vessels will save you a lot in resin
-
Why not buy second hand trolley theres been a omnitrolley classic for £225 in the buy and sell section also get a pole trigger it will save water and time .
-
good choice of pole, if the brush is similar to a supalite that too, agree with you about the fan jets being better.
-
hello m8
Backpack is good, but surely if you are already cleaning windows you have cash set aside to buy the best kit you can afford, get yourself a good van system or a quality trolley, backpack is a great back up
I would probably get a 35 ft a 26 ft and a 7ft pole as you will need them, superlite brushes on all of them.
Buy cheap you end up buying twice or 3 times
If you have the cash maybe get better poles but brodex alloy are good and they have a offer on a carbon pole at the moment.
-
Its what i have just got but i got a trigger been practising today

Daz you will have problems if do not rinse the glass off, this is one of the most important part of the cleaning process with WFP.

everyones got differing views!!most of you rinse on the glass dont you??some like fan jets/some not!
i wont be gettin any wfp equipment now for a while as my cars finally had it so im prematurely van hunting this week!! ::) ::) ;) ;)
ill get there in the end! ;D ;D ;D
thanks for all the input guys.
by the way i was only goin for this system for practicing and buy a trolley system at a later date.i was sure the xtel would have sufficed for a lot of my regular work and the backpack will still come in handy even when i get my trolley.
i wanted to just get started on the odd awkward house and practice on family and friends windows and purifying water!
the 25 ft brodex hydra pole is high on the list as well!all on the backburner for at least another month ::) ::) ::)
-
you got the wrong end of the stick matt I MEANT RINSING ON THE GLASS AS OPPOSED TO RINSING OFF THE GLASS!!! ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
How long have you been going to wfp daz?
I remember you say ing you was nearly ready 6 months ago ???
If you can buy the equipment and practice on your own house and relatives....
I didnt think it suited my work and im happy to keep working traditionally but good luck with it.
Are you converting all to wfp or are you keeping some trad?

Surely you wont use fan jets .. and you must rinse off glass to begin with....
do things the safe right way to begin with , then you will speed up and choose your best method when you gain the confidence with wfp
play safe.
one tip.... fan jets dont push left over residue down the glass like a pencil jet does.
and it DOES spray into vents , simply put, you cannot guide a fan jet in the same way.

hi danny some will be kept trad(very compact granny flats/old wooden windows/oxidized frames etc)i have a varied round with lots of very compact work and scattered bigger top end residential.
my girlfriends not very well so we ve been making the most of the time she has left. :( :(been new york last year and went to paris with her the other month.
also ive finished paying all my debts off at the end of december.then we had the bad weather.bought a new laptop/flatscreen tv/other things for my flat. ;D ;D
i cant get credit mate with my track record! ::) ;D ;D
ill be converting about 80%of my round when i do go wfp.
why did it not suit your round danny?
-
why should i rinse off the glass to begin with?and why not fan jets?
peter fogwill has always championed fan jets over needle so what is the problem?i think ill take to wfp like a duck to water!!
ill find out myself one day!! ;) ;D ;D

you will if you listen to what advice is being given to you. ;)...
when you rinse on the glass, in my opinion , its something that comes after confidence gained...
but its your choice... go ahead , do everything your own way...
sometimes its the only way to learn..

Sorry Daz i missed your reply last night
I just prefared the ladders because i thought they were quicker and i got sick of running around the van to get the hoses right and then they were snagging on everything they could. Then i wasnt confident with the system which i think showed to the customers. I was just anxious about the results after the clean and on the terraced which i can do fronts pretty wuick off the ladder they didnt like the water spillage which was understandable after the winter because the thought it would freeze. I did put salt down but felt like i was doing and extra job running round with salt.
As for prices i already clean frames on all my houses so i couldnt offer that as an advantage so many just seen it as i was getting lazy and making a mess of the street. I think if i ever went back to WFP it would only be for commercial cleaning with the H&S but im more than happy with the ladders and i have taken a few customers from wfp cleaners who werent happy with the results wfp left...
This is the way i run my business but i think if you have the confidence in what your using it will rub off on the customers.
Good luck mate
-
cheers danny.fair enough.i do think there is a learning curve with wfp though.
a lot of experienced guys have nearly given up after the first couple of weeks!ill be gettin a trolley for most of my compact work.i could imagine the van mount doing my head in with havin to be tied to the van all the time.i do have a lot of compact work with pitched roofs and connys so im sure itll stop a hell of a lot of climbing or messing about with my trad pole!
if water is really an issue at times then i would trad the downstairs windows and wfp tops on fussy custys.i think your a lot younger than me danny boy!im 38 now!the ladders and trad work was great when i was younger!but as im hurtling towards my 40 birthday its time to make my job easier and safer.
also your missing out on the bigger awkward houses that you can charge a premium on and up that hourly rate!!
-
I agree with you on the point of age daz. I turned 40 at the start of the year and I had a couple of new jobs yesterday that had ackward pitched windows and windows above big bay windows and by the time I got those done I was knackered. Mind you it could have been the onset of "Man flu" as I've taken today off as I felt totaly crap when I woke up this morning, but just have to get back at it tomorow.
I'm looking to get myself a wfp set up in the next month or so, I was wary as I've heard of a few custies in my town not liking the result the've had from another cleaner who uses one, but it's like anything if he or his guys aren't using it correctly then they could get some poor results.
