Used the new pump, varistream and hose yesterday and about 20-30 feet of the hose has, what I can only describe as blistered ???. It looks like the outer yellow casing has come away from the internal pipe???, and there are large bulges all the way along the pipe, which look like they would split at a touch. Tried ringing cleaning spot...complete waste of time.... just a load of music and then cuts me off.
Digital Varistream is on 2 and D on cut off.
Any ideas, or just my luck that its a bad batch of hose. :( :-\
cheers

I had that 12 months ago and xline who supplied it replaced it as it was a bad batch

thanks lee, currently on hold with cleaning spot >:( automated message >:(
-
good luck with that!
-
get it changed, if they start any crap, its the sale of goods act 1979
http://www.which.co.uk/advice/understanding-the-sale-of-goods-act/your-rights/index.jsp
but they should just swap it anyway
-
GRRRRRRRR!!!!!, THEY JUST KEEP CUTTING ME OFF !!
-
What color is the hose. The naff batch that I was sold was orange.
Lee

you will find that the inner layer has come away from the outer layers wall, and the water is going though the middle.
The hose will burst soon.
It could be a bad batch or just normal wear and tear
-
Thanks for all the input, definately not wear and tear...........only used for the first time yesterday :)
Have managed to get hold of cleaning spot, and apparently I am the only one who has ever had trouble like this??. Anyway they are sending me another 100m for Monday if I return the other one to the courier. I just hope the second batch is ok.
Its yellow by the way Lee.
Thanks

Ok, fair play to Cleaning Spot they have sent me another 100m length..............used it for the first time yesterday................and today exactly the same thing, last 20-30 feet is bubbling again. Surely it all can't be faulty??. These have been sent approx 4 months apart. They must be different batches, as the first had no writing on it, the second has 6mm microbore stamped on it in black. This is so bloody annoying and confusing. Am I doing something wrong ??? Anyone else had it ??

sounds like bad microbore , i use gardiners , i think it is the best , had it 2 1/2 years , infact i turned it round today as the first 30 mtrs was showing some wear , no buldging though, should be good for another couple of years

Used gardiners on a back pack for nearly a year, had no probs..............bought from Cleaning Spot and having nothing but agg ?? Think I may look for money back..........but I'm not holding my breath...lol
-
Just a bit of an update. Cleaning Spot are requesting the first hose back and issuing a refund as they can't be sure if they send another one, the same could happen. Sending it back to their supplier. On to Gardiners now to order their microbore. ;) ...............I hope its better :-\

Are you sure you don't have air in your system as this can sometimes cause it to 'sausage' and bulge.
-
Its some crap they trying to pass off as good quality/make more cash.
-
If there was air in the system, would this not show in the jet stream.....bubbling, spurting etc...., and if it is air, it still means its getting between the inner and outer layer.
How would you eliminate air in the system??, I can only imagine by just running it till all air is out ??. All connections are tight and no leaks anywhere ???
Thanks
-
If there was air or water in the system the result would be the same. Bubbles are caused by pressure. So its either to much pressure from your pump or its crap hose. That hose should opperate at least 160 psi if not more for the layers of the hose to seperate and de laminate, I would put deffo put it down to bad hose or cheap passed of as good.
-
Thanks Richard, Have had a rather "irate" conversation with Cleaning Spot, who wanted to hold my money and for me to send back both hoses before they would refund, which would leave me without hoses and they would still have my money........... I suggested I contact Trading Standards. ;D
One of the reps on the phone advised me that they have the same problem with a few customers and they are trying to sort the problem.
Suffice to say, I have received a mail from them advising that they have issued the refund and I have now ordered 100m of hosing from Gardiners........................I do hope this is better :-\ :-\ :-\
Fieldsy.

that looks like realy crap micro bore .
daz
-
Yh, really crap, and this is sold on their site and close to the same price as gardiners.........I thought I was buying good material and WRONGLY thought all microbore was of the same standard....................how wrong was I :-\
-
Fieldsy, was the micro-bore like that in the picture before you started using it? The reason I ask is it could be your pump that is faulty, putting out the water with too much pressure. I have came across that in the past.

How is the microbore connected to your reel ?
Do you have it inside a piece of 13mm hose ?
-
Hi Pete,
No this has happened after about the second day of using it. Surflo pump is only running on 2 on varistream. The only way I am going to definately know is when I receive the hose from Gardiners.
-
The microbore is connected to the reel via a 6mm mail tail (with jubilee clip) which in turn is screwed into a brass elbow which is screwed in turn onto the reel (hope that makes sense).
There is no 13mm hose attached.............................only at the end of the reel where I have a hoselock autostop connected to connect to the pole hose.
-
Fieldsy
That is the correct way, I know it can go wrong if it is stuffed inside a piece of 13 mm, water gets in the exposed end and does the damage.
-
I've had this bubbling problem before though I had a few months usage first.
The stuff that bubbled wasn't so durable. It had a very thin inner core and sometimes pinholed.
I bought some other microbore later and I'm still using it without issues well over a year later. The core in this microbore is much thicker so presumably this may have something to do with it.
On both types of microbore I have/had the microbore jubilee clipped into a short piece of half inch hose and did wonder if that was the cause of the problem. Hoiwever the current one is fine.
-
my 100mtr microbore from gardiners is connected in the same way, microbore connected to 13mm pipe via a reducer , then on to brass elbow on reel,
now problems after 2 1/2 years , turned it around last week , as good as new,
tip,
after prolonged use turn it round , as on mine to first 30mtrs or so , took the most wear, by turning round you increase it's life

Thanks all for the replies fellas. Glad to know I have it connected correctly ;D. So it all points to bad hose???. If it happens with Gardiners hose I think I'll have to look at the system, but from what you have all said it seems to be connected correctly.
The varistream is on flow rate of 2 and cut off is set on E as on the default setting of C is kept coming on then cutting out and so on....
I'll keep you updated as to what happens with gardiners microbore.
