Title: Public Liability Insuarance
Post by: traps7 on April 09, 2010, 08:26:59 am
I think I've just found out my Public Liability cover doesn't really suit my needs.
I'm paying £174.75 for the policy details below. I'm a sole trader. There's also an endorsement for gutter cleaning which I've queried with them as it's down as 'guttering and fascia board instalation'. They said that was what I needed if I cleaned gutters with wfp.

My problem is I am supposed to start a 5 storey job next week with a 44' pole. 44' is 13.41 metres and they won't extend the cover from 10 metres. Also it doesn't cover glass and I'm not sure about damage to the property. I use mainly wfp.

I'm thinking my cover is very generalised and not specific enough for my needs.

Has anyone else had this or can recommend someone more specialised without breaking the bank?

Thanks.

Thanks, I've just filled in their forms online.
But they're just a broker and when you click on each individual policy the small print always contains exclusions similar to what I've got now.

Ok thanks, that looks good. I've just filled in the forms.
Looks a lot more specialised.

I nearly lost a sweet, regular, industrial contract simply because my insurance policy didn't stipulate industrial cover which the factory owner who read my insurance policy wasn't happy with despite having enough public liabilty cover for the building.

Three phone calls and one email later all has been clarified. Everyone happy now so starting it on Monday.

I've sorted it now thanks guys.  My existing broker found me one similarly priced with no height restriction, fascias/guttering included and my tool cover although with a £350 per item limt. He said my super max 44 could be bought in sections if need be to get round this.

It still doesn't cover damage to signs or items being cleaned but he said I'd be looking at about £600 if I wanted that which is way above my budget.

It's not perfect by any means, I know, but it will have to do for the forseeable future.
