Title: do you use wfp on nearly everything?
Post by: dazmond on April 08, 2010, 09:47:54 pm
ill be getting my van in a few months and a trolley system.

did some of you guys think that you d use wfp on some houses here and there then find yourself using it on nearly all your work as its faster and easier after the first cleans??

im thinking it will be faster on big georgian/leaded houses and conservatories especially.

im thinking of changing the lot over apart from a few bungalows/block of granny flats and a few old wooden windows/oxidized frames.

im thinking ill be slower than trad on first cleans/about the same as trad on second cleans and a bit quicker on 3rd/4th cleans.

then 20% quicker overall than trad after 6 months.

is there a bigger learning curve with wfp than trad?

cheers lads

I was kind of hoping to phase it in slowly, trad was my total comfort zone. 1 - 2 weeks in and i was having to look out the WD 40  to loosen the ladder clamps on a couple of jobs that needed tradin'
Saying that i've had bad days with wfp but i slow down a bit concentrate and get back in the zone, I will not get the ladders out unless it's a last resort.

Wee question, I'll be hitting my first bird/spider crap season this spring have any of you guys been beaten by a super stuck on bird crap and had to get the ladders out or dooes a good soaking then comeback suffice ?

i have been beat by bird muck but not on regular work, quick soak and go back if really stubborn, most of the time it just melts away

but truthfully on some new cleans and 1/4 work commercial its been a nightmare and i have resorted to ladder and one rather large con roof i am still trying to get it off after months of cleaning, its like super glue

Hi Daz,
you have water meter/limit and storage probs with water? i read your previous posts.
why not trad bottoms, wfp tops, that way you use half pure water to what you need if all was total wfp,so you need half storage space.just do tops first, then return when drips have stopped, and trad bottoms, one would have to await drips stopping even to wfp bottoms.simples!

Once you see for yourself the results you will use it more and more. Go back if the glass is wet when you are finishes and check results it will give confidence to use it more.

Same as Form B. Have come to the conclusion, this is the way it works...have set up to use WFP, spent the money to buy all the equipment and is the preferred method of cleaning..............if you don't like it, your windows don't get cleaned.....sorry but thats my logic.

;)  but I do trad front doors and back doors, because of slippery surface ect... at point of exit/access.............especially for the 'ole dears.  ;)

if i get 16 25 litre barrels(400 lts)and  rachet them in my van hopefully that ll be enough water for most days after the first cleans are out of the way and ive got a trigger on my pole.

i really dont want to wfp tops and trad bottoms unless water is an issue.might as well just try and do everything with the pole if its faster and easier most of the time! ;) ;) ;D ;D

best wishes to u all

we wfp tops and squeegee bottoms as theres 2 of us and only have 1 hose plus its less likely to get people moaning about the windows been left wet as we have just went wfp ;D

i had this great idea when i went wfp that i would still trad some windows, i bought a backpack to start off with and the difference was unbelievable, i used to get tired(ish) after 4-5 hours on the ladders but with the pole you dont feel it, only really my shoulders hurt now but i can live with that.

I now only trad on insides and ive never had a customer complain about wet windows cos i explain this either through a letter when i switched everyone or when i go to qoute on new windows. I offer trad if they dont like the wfp but ive also never had anyone insist on it. Like anything you have to inform the customer of what your doing, why your doing it and how it works. You will think you sound stupid an its a bit OTT but i now find that all of my customers love it and the recommendations for further work doesnt seem to be slowing down.

Daz i am more than prepared to pop over your way and give you a demo of my kit if you want, it aint nothing mad but it may ease a few of your worries

hi daz, i am sort of in the same boat as you, on a water meter, storage problems,  i wfp everything  ie not wfp tops and trad bottoms,  2 reason 1 i hate trad lol and 2 its easier just to shorten the pole than, get the trad gear out,  plus where i live a lot of people have crap in front of there windows so easier to get to with wfp,
