Title: Sprayers
Post by: jim etchells on April 05, 2010, 08:55:07 am
If I look for chemical sprayers online. Literally hundreds come up. Ranging from £10 to hundreds of pounds. On a 5ltr sprayer what design spec should it have to do carpet spraying?
Thanks
Jim

you get what you pay for jim, i'd go for bigger than 5 litre, i have (i think there!) 8 litre orions, there all right. cleansmart sell them, around £55 to £60. i've had 1 year out of one and nearly 2 years out of another, pump ups gone on one but i swap it from the other one. theres a lot better out there but you can pay up to around £250 i think. like i said mine are all right and at £60 there good value for money, don't get the £10 cheapo's from local stores. they won't last 5 mins and they take half an hour to prespray one carpet, time is money so the savings in time on the job far out way the initial outlay.

I dont know about viton seals, at that price I dont care .  I carry it by the handle.

I  had to put my own spray wand on it , but had several kicking about.

It holds 15 litres which makes it a bit heavy when full ,so I have taken to carryiso I have taken to half filling it, there is a large filler neck which makes topping up really simple.

They are really, the seals in cheaper sprayers break down fairly quickly, repair kits are expensive so you tend to throw away. Decent pump up sprayers can be got from around £12+vat for a 1.5L, £50/£60+ vat for a 5L, and they will last a year or so.

Get the stainless steel (Gloria( ones costing £200+ and look after them and they will last you for years - had one of mine now for about 6 years and only had to replace the hose twice cause it split.

The sprayers from Window Cleaning Warehouse were made for crop spraying so should be fine for carpet cleaning ive been using one for about 18 months with no problems.

I use the IK9 sprayers, all the parts are easily replacable. Looking for a battery sprayer at the mo.

Like Tony says, Viton seals are essential.

Protectors will wreck other seals in no time at all, so will the solvents in many pre-sprays. Sometimes aven a mild acid rinse can ruin some seals.

Safe and happy spraying :)

The WCW backpack does not have Viton seals I have just discovered.

If and when the pump gives out , A  more suitable pump is available for £40.
