I was wondering if anyone owns either one of these machines, and could perhaps tell me how they perform.
I have always used the wand type machine, and finding that my back is suffering after every job.
Do these machines make life any easier? What about speed of doing a job?
I'm not getting lazy, I would just like life to be a bit easier, and if anyone can fill me in, then I would be gratefull.....Don't want to buy one, and find out that it's been money wasted. I work alone, and as many of you know it can be tough going sometimes.

Scott,
What environment are you going to use them in?
These machines would be much too awkward to use in a domestic environment.
You would be better off investing in some glides or magic lips for your wand, this will make it less back breaking and give you better drying times.
If you are doing mainly commercial work then it would be worth looking at a low moisture system, Charly Pads, Dry Fusion, etc.
Hope this helps.

derek
Glides? magic lips? what are they ??? I mainly do domestic work, although I do hotels and pubs too, which I guess is the same...Is there no smaller machine that could be used for this type of work. I have a five star too, but the solution tank is rather small.

Scott,
These are attachments that you put on the end of your wand to make cleaning easier and faster drying.
Try this site http://www.teflonmagiclips.com
There are also glides but do not have web site for them.
check out the post on here refering to glides for pro's & cons.
If you are doing pubs then you will need a heavy duty portable which I presume you already have, the five star is not Ideal both in terms of power and as you have stated too many refills while working. Using a smaller machine will make your life even harder.

The Polaris and Supernovas are very good machines especially the larger 800 and 1200 models, you can attach a wand to the units if you wish. I am sure Mike will give you a nice quote!

I could be wrong , do they only hav one vac.?
Does this not effect perfomance drying times etc/
-
yeh nave a heavy duty twin vac...but like i said....setting up times and working times could be improved by a push around....checked out the site....so, can i phone up and order these then...and do they fit all wands?
-
just found out how much they are..£100 :o :o :o

I did nick, the lady that answers your phone passed it on to you twice, she said...anyhoo, I dont supose by any chance that the glides are made to fit a "woodbridge commercial" wand?

Stop and have a think for a mintue about a walk behind. Imagine lifting it up stairs or out of the van. I reckon its more awkward than a portable. Maybe you should consider a more powerful portable which will allow you to run longer hose so as not to lift the machine upstairs. Get a ramp for the van.
Also try a power wand but again awkward in small areas. IMO a wand is best for residential. Maybe your technique isnt all that it should be and could be improved. A swan neck wand helped me as i can stand upright and push it without too much stooping.
Upholstery cleaning is a back killer. I only do one suite a day and price high enough to bypass the crap.
