Hi,
Can anyone tell me or give me a link to any window cleaning assistant programs. I've found something called George the window cleaners assistant but just want to know if there are any others or if anyone out there is using the same one i just mentioned.

once u get used to it, it's very good,
the thing i like about it, is that you can put all roads and areas in alphabetical order

I've probably aleady done much of what George can do by tweaking MS Works database and spreadsheet. However, it was a lot of work and I needed a number of visits to the microsoft software newsgroup to achieve it. I wish I had known about George sooner but I don't intend to start using it yet. My current system works fine now and I just can't be bothered to go through another learning curve - not yet anyway. However, for future reference (in case I decide to make the switch one day), if George's author is reading this:- Can George import data from an MS Works database. Alternatively, can George import data from a .csv file (MSWorks database files can be saved as .csv but I'm sure you must know that already). I even do regular backups to a file saving service called Filegenie. This is useful as I save my templates there too for leaflets, invoices etc.

No - George is designed for Window Cleaners moving up from paper records so the vast majority of our users don't have any structured data to import. We work on the principle that if a feature isn't needed by most of our users, we don't add it.
There would also be a major problem mapping the size, order and type of the imported data with George's data structure with Round Codes, Debt Lists, tax rates and frequencies.
It's good that you backup your data to the internet - but the internet backup in George is integrated into the program and performs the process automatically.

OK Paul. Thanks for the response. I would have been surprised if George could have managed that as there are an infinite variety of ways that a database - and any resultant .csv file - could be set up (no two people would do it exactly alike). Even copy/pasting of each field's contents into George might have been useful. I did some very elementary programming many years ago (not VB) and I do have some idea of the difficulties. It looks like it would be possible to copy/paste individual records one at a time but it would be almost as easy to type it in from scratch - although having lots of identical data such as road names or towns is a big help.
It looks an excellent program and I hope you have been well rewarded for producing it. I may well join you sometime.
