hi all hope you guys are doing well ?
i went to quote a job today ..but am not sure what to charge .
its a friend of my farther in law he owns a car dealership well three in fact.
the job is too clean the windows at bthe dealerships . and his house all in one quote !
garage one and two are on the same site .
garage 1 : 8 large pains roughly 3m X 3m and 4 x doors with 2m X 1m pains.
garage 2: 4 large 3m X 4m pains and set of doors 2m X 1m
at the rear 10 windows same as a standard house window 1m X1.5m (roughly size) plus a small glass porch.
then
garage 3 is around 30min drive away
12 sections of glass 3m X 3m
........................................................
then i have too include the price of his house in this as he wants a complete quote for the whole lot.
his house i would charge £40 which includes traveling.
house is 15 min from garage 3
roughly 1h15 travel for all the jobs as i would do them all on the same day so as to cut down on costs .

If you can do it all in a day, work out a price on that basis, if it takes you all day charge what you earn in a day, if you can do it in half a day then charge him half a days wage.

quoting is a bit of a game. its really done with experience.
i agree take a guess at how long you think it will take ,and go with that.better to go with your first thought

Quote HIGH.
If he's asking you to clean his businesses AND HIS HOUSE he'll submit the one bill against his tax liability; therefore in actual fact he's not paying for any of it. The tax payer is footing the bill in the revenue the tax man will not be receiving.
I bet he'll just ask for one invoice covering the lot - including the house.

I agree I do a car dealership and both partners houses put it all on one invoice, they pay quarterly no problem

>:( >:( Forget it, dont touch it with a barge pole, stay well clear.
Never let customers tell you what price to do a job for.
Wonder why the other window cleaner finished.
Dont do the job.
Hope my opinion is comming over.

Why is the old window cleaner the old window cleaner? If he did a bad job and got the boot then explain you will do a better job and it will cost more, If he did a good job but your father in laws friend just wants you to do the job then it is up to you, and if he just stopped turning up it is almost certainly underpriced tell him to get another quote and compare it to yours.

Hi Shawn,
I agree with the last two replies.
Do not do it for less than you have quoted.
Offer him a 10% discount on the price if he pays 3 months in advance and that is the best you can do.
Basically, you’re a professional window cleaner and that is what your rates are, would he want a plumber to fix his cars because the plumber is cheaper and who thinks he knows how to fix cars? NO

I agree. I let a customer dictate a price once. She ended up trying to control the prices in the whole street. Guess who stopped calling after 3 visits.

put the ball back in his court tell him £150.00 or get his old window cleaner back ;D
