Title: Van Insurance for New Drivers
Post by: williamx on July 24, 2005, 09:17:31 pm
Does anyone know where a friend of mine can get van insurance, his problem is that he has only just passed his test and all the companies he has approached don't seem to cover vans.

an interesting point on insurance which seems to of been forgotten you can put your own insurance of what you want direct to an underwriter at lloyds and therefor taking away the 3d party .a freind of mine does it like that with his lorry.and saves a fortune. why give the broker up to40% in commision. just a thought

Ron

Are you sure your friend deals direct with Underwriters at Lloyds.

I worked in Insurance Industry for 12 years, and it is my understanding that you have to be registered to deal with Lloyds.

Furthermore you would need to know and understand the workings of the Lloyds insurance market for both underwriting and claims. It is not as easy as you may think !!

My advice would be to find a good Insurance Broker who can handle your insurance policies and any problems that may arise.

Tried stavely head, and although they are cheap, they dont insure you to drive other vehicles, or do protected no-claims.....just the down-side.
