Title: lightening the load?
Post by: bobplum on April 02, 2010, 03:12:36 pm
in an effort to make my self more efficent and carry less  in my hands i have started to "reorganise" my tool belt and ladders,i am a trad wc
1/ i have a couple of poles,3ft and 10 ft(2 section) for those hard to reach windows i have screwed into the side of my ladders pipe clips, the type plumbers use for copper piping,22 mm and clip the poles to the side of the ladders
2 /dont carry a bucket, use a bottle on the belt, use customers outside taps to wet the window washer then top with bottle, carry a small bottle of w5 to soap it up
3 /got rid of them stupid window scrapers, the silver metal type, gone to unger 4 inch scraper
4/ boab is the unger type, takes to squeegees, one is a wagtail 14 inch and a unger swivel 18 inch i keep the 4 inch type in my pouch
5/ two pouches, both unger one for a scrim, spares in car and sill clothes in other
6/ tool "loop" this allows me to put the scrim on the side of the belt and this drys quicker
7/ and last unger personal pouch for pens, completion slips etc

now all i have to do is learn how to clean windows!!!!!!!!!!lol ;D
cant you tell im bored
luv bob

I use one pouch which holds my cloths. (I put sill and detailing cloths in it, still only use a couple of cloths each day.) Also has a small extension handle and 6 inch squeegee in it.
Bottle on a belt. Filled up from the bucket which stays in the berlingo.
Unger boab which holds one squeegee and the applicator and a small scraper.

Keeping stuff to a minimum has really made things quicker.  :)

Unger ergotec system- the most useless piece of kit ever!!!

Whoever designed it wants shooting!

Normal pockets on a normal belt now. ;)

I don't like the velcro on the ergotec pouches. I got any ergotec stuff sewn up at a local shoe repair shop for a couple of quid. I still use the green unger pouches though.

biggest problem is where do you hang your boab once the pockets are on? The pockets are so wide that there's no belt left at the side to hang the boab from, it could only go at the very front where it's no good!

I think the belt is just a rebranded product designed for something else originaly.

I find it all a bit big, heavy, stiff & restrictive Lammy, just can't get on with it mate, I've tried too, after spending £60 on it all!  :(
Just a very poor design for it's application IMO. ;)

i use a leather belt .  on my left side is hanging a ladies bracelet ,my scrim pulls into this . left front is my triumph scraper on a quick release catch   . on my right side hangs my shortened pulex b.o.a.b ,this has a small emulsion brush clipped to it for cobwebs or doorframe/track muck . to the side of that hangs my spray bottle , i bought this long-range sprayer in a hardware shop and replaced the original bottle with a clear plastic 300ml drink bottle  .  spray 3 or 4 windows as i walk towards then ,firing from the hip !

another great thing about a spray bottle is it really works great on aggresive dogs  ;D

theres an old labrador on my round was making my job a misery ---NOT ANY MORE ! Its like iv now got a gun  ,straight between the eyes  -one shot !!!
