Some of you prob know but Im just starting out on my path of being a window cleaner .. did some first cleans Monday the 1st of which asked me to go quote her mums house on the same estate ... got job @ £12 ... 6 windows 2 little windows and the conservatory (3 windows are leaded but found them easy enough to do thanks to some tips from the forum)
anyways back to the point of this thread ... the mother tells me this morning that her daughter is so impressed by my cleaning standards and general all round niceness shes telling all her neighbours to bin their current crappy miserable window cleaner and use me instead even though I charge more (I decided from day 1 charge high price and do a quality job) .. so expecting 2 things to happen soon
1 get more business from this estate .. compact work is the way foward
2 and secondly to find a windy possibly wanting to take me out lol ;D and I dont mean for a drink neither ;)
Is this how things generally work out then ?

the first thing would be the most likely thing to happen.

dont worry i have added a few customers who arent happy with there window cleaners attitude and shoddy work.
If i ever see one and they moan,i will moan back twice as much and tell them some home truths,straight talking does the job.

clean is there patch or their god given right get me yeah
a lot of these guys av found out to their peril with me
its NOT i will go anywhere if im asked to clean even if its 1 house
if i can cover it an expand i will regardless of who else
cleans around me n if im asked to clean more
of their work i will end of ;D ;D

i had to larf yesterday ,an old guy came over as i was cleaning and asked me
" dyou clean round here then,are you decent?
we had a cleaner, bloody bloke,we treated him good, gave him tips, gave him cups of tea ,even gave him food from our table. then whats he do,goes and SH/TS on us thats what he does "
in the coming weeks i guess i will hear the story of HIM ;D

ive had the same, i picked some up off a crap fella localy and i went back to do the 2nd clean on them yesterday. one customeerr told me he had been back round asking for a second chance but she said no, he missed windows out and refused to do doors, he said he would now do these but she said to late, he then went on to tell her he has just spent 10k on a system like mine ;D and how it was unfair that im cleaning on 'his' estate as he had paid 4k for it, she then went on to say that he is crap and that competition is good, haha i love giving customers a good job and making them happy.
Only thing was that i was informed by another customers that they turn up with about 4 or 5 in the car haha, i feel i may have someone having words with me soon haha. good job im a nice approachable guy ;D

i think i will ;D turned up at a new house on wednesday and next door was being cleaned by anither wfp, got chatting to him and he was really nice, he told me about how he had been threatened loads of times and he had to lock himself in the van once as two wcs wanted to kill him, couldnt believe it but hey thats what some people are like.
also had another new custie yesterdday who told me that she caught the old lads missing windows and pulled them up only to receive a height of abuse she got, thats when she dropped them and called me. ;D its good to know that im good at my job and its not just my good lucks and charm that get me all my work.
oh and on another note, when i moved house we had a wc doing my windows, i thought id let him and see how he is, well he was crap so i dropped him, the thing is i live in a nice cul de sac with all 4 bed detached houses, i never once canvassed it or tried to get anyone, ive since been approached by 4 people and now do theirs and then last night i had another one knock so im doing theirs next week, got a feeling i will get the rest of them as he is terrible

oh snd the one i picked up last night is a manager at anfield and he told me that when the tenders come up for the cleaning that he will put my name forward, lammy knows who does this now and apparantly he still does but he subbies it out so got to be a good few quid in it ;D

Sure thing. If someone regularly does a rubbish job and is rude to their custies they get what they deserve. However,m some custies never tell the W/C that they aren't happy. I believe I do a reasonable job and have to assume that they are OK with it - unless they actually say that they aren't. I'm not a mind reader. Also, anyone who has been cleaning any length of time really must have missed the odd window. Not intentionally. It just happens if the concentration isn't good on an off day. I've been told about this a few times (in nearly 20 years mind you) so I'm sure there must have been occasions when it's happened and no-one (including me) has noticed. I've caught myself starting to pack my gear away and suddenly realised that I've missed a window so returned to clean it. It's easily done if the work has become mind numbingly boring.
