I bumped into another local husband-and-wife window cleaning team today. They don't have a computer; so aren't members here.
Anyway, they said they'd recently bumped into Roy Harding (from this site) and since they come from Chepstow, Roy asked if they knew me. They said 'yes' (probably gave me a slagging!).
Then they told me Roy had all the best kit, posh van that's capable of running four hoses from - really looked the part - and was a 'proper window-cleaning God'.
'In fact', the wife said to me, 'he made us feel like a couple of gippos'!
You can't get a better compliment than that! ;)

i would like to complain about the word "gippos"
it is not a politically correct term
:P :P :P
you as a mod should know better, please check the "PC bible" for other racist terms :P :P :P

Oh here we go...another off topic political debate.
Oh yes, and the correct term is Corrupt Fun Fair owners.
-
I must take issue with you Squeaky!
I think it is disgraceful to refer to window cleaners as being like "Corrupt Fun Fair Owners."
All self-respecting corrupt funfair owners are far too busy dressing up as ghosts in Scooby Doo. I have never ever seen a window cleaner appear in Scooby Doo or any other Hanna-Barbera production!

Just back from a long weekend.
Yes I saw them at Devaughden, I allways stop and speak to fellow window cleanners. [ The slaging wasnt to bad Ken ;)].
They were using a small trolly system and I was asking how he got on with it, he said he had a lot of spoting at times.

John (the window cleaner you met) isn't a big fan of WFP. Both Ian and myself have encouraged him to post here, but he's computer illiterate and has no wish to learn. He say's he's 'old school' and still uses a note pad and pen to write his residential invoices out.
He must be doing well though. He has a decent house in a quiet area and drives a nice motor. Although he uses a small trolley system he transports his pure water around in a trailer - so his carrying capicity must be fairly good.
He admits he doesn't want to set the world on fire, just pay the bills and live simply.
I just thought that what they said about you was a good compliment; albiet said in a funny manner.

Ahhh, that John... I think I know who you're talking about now. ;)

Any gossip I should know about him? He lives near me.

Apart from being a millionaire playboy and wanted by Inter-pol nothing of note really.

Ken
Yeh thats about what he said to me.
He does have a nice car, and thats the beauty of window cleaning. You can earn as much as you need.
It was not my aim to make them feel bad, but over the last 2yrs I have been raising the image of my business, to make it look more proffesional ie nice sign written van also matching uniforms with embroidered name ect.
The last few months Ive seen a real up turn in new customers and comercial work, with some very nice prices.
I have the nice situation, as I can name my price if its to high too bad, just walk away as the price I give is what I want to do it.

Yeah, John and his wife are an ok team, but he just can't get the hang of the WFP :-\
And he keeps his car lovely and clean, not like me & Tosh, you open the passenger door and it takes you 5 minutes to pile all the empty tins/wrappers/newspapers and other detrius back into the passenger footwell!....and my car is almost as bad too ;D
Rogers car is always spotlessly clean too..........funny he never married ::)
Regards,
Ian
