i was delivering leaflets and a bloke got out his car,
whats that for,takeways?

he replied i got a window cleaner i dont want one with a attitude.
i said it doesnt look like it and said have a nice day and smiled,he look a bit angry! ;D
made me chuckle!
-
theres always one ;D what i hate is the old biddys that try telling you its a waste of time son as theres already a window cleaner. i just ignore and carry on. the last time someone said it to me i picked up £200 quid on that estate
-
lol or the ones that say No i have a window cleaner and there windows are minging!
Heres another - Old biddies waiting behind that door even though you knock they dont answer than once you have pushed a leaflet through the door and go to the next house out the come. And why ? to put the leaflet in the recycle bin lol.
All fun and games of being a window cleaner

im so glad i havent had to canvass for over 2 yrs, some people can be so rude, good comeback clee!
i remember walking across someones lawn to save walking up and down the path and the pair came out shouting at me! said sorry and did it again as i went to their neighbour, they went mental!!
so funny!
yeah that used to wind me up to, theres already a window cleaner here!
used to say what, he does every single house?
-
i was once cleaning away and old boy stopped me and said his neighbour needed a windae and she didnt want the other mob that done that area and could i give her a knock. i knocked the door and she had no idea what i was talking about. anyway i apoligised and started to walk and she asked how much? i said a fiver and she nearly fainted and was no no no no thats way to much :o
-
lol,you just have to laugh.
im going to think of as many comebacks i can.
maybe these will be good?
1)is your window cleaner blind?because he doesnt look like he cleans your glass.
2)the birds are dirty round here
3)does he wash them with dirty water?
anyone got any other good ones?

is your window cleaner a window licker ;D

I hate to say this, but no one likes a smart arse. Your witty rejoinder may make you feel good, but it just makes you look like a prat in their eyes.
If someone disses you, be polite in return.
If their poor lives are so miserable that they have to take their pathetic pleasures in giving you a hard time, they deserve your sympathy, not your venom.
Think what you like, but always speak well.
And (as I always say to my kiddies) ....
If ya can't say owt good, say nowt.

have to agree with wally. not because they deserve my sympathy but because i am representing my business and word can spread. although its hard holding your tongue sometimes
-
Under my breath never would say it out loud. That would be no good for bussiness. I totaly agree with you wally .
-
i dont understand, they refused your business, so how can it be bad for business chopsing back if they're rude to you?
-
absolutely m8,aslong as you dont swear and threaten them with violence whats the problem?

sometimes folk have a bad day and are rude, lets say a few months down the line he actually realise he needs a window cleaner. does he ask the gobby one or the guy that said no problem have a nice day. or you are working somewhere else and his best mate is talking about his new w/c ie you. and he mentions your name and the van etc and this guy say oh i remember him gobby get he was, right ignorant sod
do you get the picture, hope that helps, by the way i am no angel but you learn from mistakes
-
to be honest m8 i wouldnt want to clean his windows,if he had been rude like that in a pub i would have punched his lights out, believe me i would of!
i was proud of myself that i didnt!

Once while delivering leaflets and old biddy appeared from the top end of the street waving my leaflet that I'd pushed through her letter box earlier; I was a good wadge of houses away from her.
She shouted, still waving the leaflet, so I ran up the street to her expecting to be asked to quote then and there.
She says with a kind smile, "Here's your leaflet back, son, I've already got a window cleaner!"
::)

its funny when you hand someone a leaflet and they say no thanks ive got a window cleaner, and go to close the door, and you say can i have my leaflet back then!
and there like or yeah ok,
well i'd rather give it to the next person than going in your bin love!
i know they're only 1/2p each but still!

see i think thats madness as well. she might take the leaflet and leave it somewhere. then realise her window cleaner is rubbish so who does she call not you because she doesnt have your number ;) so she puts up with the existing w/c till someone polite turns up canvassing.
its a business your building guys not just a job. i have hold my tongue sometimes but it pays off
-
sorry dont mean to prattle on and not trying to lecture. but i am a sarcastic bugger and i really have to put in an effort not to retaliate sometimes but it works for me.
and the amount of work ive picked up where the other cleaner was an ignorant sod is unreal. sometimes its not about how well you can clean windows but how you sell yourself

maybe if your desperate for the work, that would be a good idea to leave a leaflet, but thankfully its all been recommendations for me since, and a bit of advertising. so no skin off my nose ;D
-
i havent canvassed for years because i dont need to. but this post was started by someone looking for work. so just giving my best advice really. and well established or not it pays to be polite
anyway give wally some abuse he started it ;D

I had one like that too. Customer shouted at me, I CLEAN THEM MYSELF, WHY WOULD I WANT TO WASTE MONEY? Windows were a state and I said back "Do you want me to show you how to do them properly?" he looked stunned.
