I actually met this guy!
He seemed very nice, and had the kit & everything.
In the Swindon area he would canvass & get people to sign up for a year of cleaning, then ask them to pay upfront.... and they did!!
He would turn up for 1 or 2 cleans, then went missing. While he was there he would also check out their sheds & if any house doors/windows were open he was in like lightening.
His canvassing technique must have been superb though....

friend of ours have moved from w-s-m cause the influx of drugs etc has got out of hand.
lovely road locking road. :Pwhen you driving away from it :P

The really daft thing is that he could have probably made more money, with less risk, if he had been a totally straight window cleaner.

Chris
That isn't going to make any difference is it?
How hard is it to get a license, then go on the rob? ???

Chris
Not going to get it in the neck from me but I question whether licensing would stop someone like that anyway. Even if it was policed, the only known offence when he failed to produce it would have been not having a licence. If customers never ask to see it, it wouldn't make any difference IMO. He could just as easily have said he was a gutter cleaner/painter/gardner/tree surgeon or probably any number of other jobs.

Yer I agree on the basis of if you havent already done a crime you could do it once youve got the licence, but this person in question wouldnt get a license, I got a CRB check and so many of my customers trust me on there property due to this,

A compulsory CRB check sounds good to me; and it's not beyond the realms of imagination. A friend of mine was in the army, committed fraud, left the army and became a driving instructor. Eventually after a three year investigation he was jailed for two years and now he can't be a driving instructor anymore because of his criminal record.
I'm sure if they can do this for driving instructors, they could do it for us?
But don't CRB checks take time to process - some months maybe? That would really affect the guys who employ.
-
As far as im aware, if it was bought into w/c I recon if you where to employe someone they wouldnt be allowed on a site where there are vunuarable adults/ children or do any internal windows on propertys on there own until there crb check had come through, when I worked in care I wasnt allowed to work on my own until it came through.

Better get down WsM canvassing Franky!
