bumped into a window cleaner i remember from years ago(bout 12 years ago).hes 50 now and looks haggard and a lot older than 50.he was at the local garage makin a roll up in his old escort car.
i noticed he had beer towels wrapped around his old ladders using them as ladder mitts.so i went over to have a chat with him.he looked ill.i wouldnt be surprised if he s a heavy drinker as well.
asked him about wfp.he said its too expensive and you have to charge more for the clean.he looks like he s ready to jack it all in.
all in all he wasnt very friendly.i hope i dont end up like him!(ironically im 38 so in 12 years ill be 50!)
i do think window cleaning takes its toll on us all but throw in heavy drinking/smoking and looking at him its ruined his health. ::)
but for the grace of God go i..................

I'm 50 (started at age 38) and on the contrary I think window cleaning has made me fitter. And look at Dai - he's still bumping them out at 67 - or his wife is! ;D
Don't smoke, or drink heavily, mind.

I'm 63 - still WFPing and probably for some time yet (pensions lost too much over the years).
I spent 40+ years office based and I've never felt fitter since WFPing - tired yes - but it's a nice sort of tired if you know what I mean. Better than the mental stress of managing a busy oil terminal with a crew of union member tanker drivers.
Never smoked - drinking varies but never piddled - just happy sort of level.
That guy might have a health problem that's not related to his work so keep on squirting guys!

I worked in the steel industry since leaving school. I left, sold my house & moved to the country 7 years ago. Bought a farm cottage & set up window cleaning. I'm 38 later this year, healthy & feel good (most of the time). I think being out in the fresh (well, it's fresh here) air all day is good for you. I also get a good feeling being self employed & bringing in a good wage supporting me, my wife & 3 year old daughter :). I've built a really good business with a good range of clients both domestic & commercial & this is still ongoing, increasing my profile, acting & presenting myself more professionally, refining etc.
All in all, it's all good stuff.
Still, a good moan about our job now'n again is healthy too!! ;D

I know loads of old p-Pots like that, the window cleaning industry seems to attract them like flies to a Dog Turd.
