Title: Too expensive?
Post by: Jonathan Spencer on March 29, 2010, 11:20:00 am
I had a phone call asking how much to clean some windows.  It is a normal ex council 3 bed semi.  Ie 4 upstairs windows, 1 downstairs bay and 2 windows downstairs.  I said I charge £7 which includes all frames, cill and doors.  She said I am a pensioner, that is too dear my last window cleaner did not charge that much and put the phone down on me.

I am in Smethwick, West Midlands.  Sometimes I get customers saying "Is that all?!?!"  Am I charging too much and lower my prices.  ( I have had a couple say this recently)

You need to ask why she is looking for a new cleaner.
Don`t be put off by one knock back.

I have decided that I am not going to lower my prices.  I used to charge £6 but recently put my prices for a ll new ones upto £7.

The old WC may have stopped going because it was under priced. Or he could have been doing a poor job and she stopped him.

Stick to your price mate, or else you will be doing more work for less pay, & let her find out the hard way.

I think I am pricing right for the area I live in.

And you know better than some customer. She sounds rude anyway, you`re probably better off without her.

It was 50p for an end of terrace house in Geordieland in the early 1970s.  A big fat bloke with tattoos and a hefty set of wooden ladders used to do St Stephen's Way, in Percy Main, just outside of North Shields.

In fact these are the 50p houses I'm talking about!  ;D

i picked up a 3 bed semi in a affluent area the other week.fairly big windows and charged her £12.she nearly fell over!the last wc was charging £6 and insisted to her that he came round every 2 weeks!!in the end i got it on a 8 weekly with a reduction on price to £10 if i get 4 or more down that street.ill be canvassing after easter just before hers are due again.

if you offer a better service at longer frequency clean they usually pay more as they are saving more than havin a cheap fornightly cleaner who obviously hasnt much work! ::)AND you do a better job and earn more if you already have a pretty full round(i do!) ;D ;D

EVERYONES A WINNER apart from the last WC!!! :P :P
