I can't wait !! . . gonna make the most of it though . .It ticked all the boxes . . 900kg payload, 90bhp engine, lx so full electrics and cd etc.
i've decided, if my 650 ltr tank from pure freedom fits (looks like it does but need to make final measurements) then I'll stick that in to save buying a new one . . I just won't fill it fully.
As for everything else, I want it to be a really tidy install.
One thing it doesn't have is a bulkhead but I've got my eyes on one so hopefully . . ;D
I will try and capture each stage and post it up here as it happens so . . watch this space ;D

nice one m8,nice vans, was looking for one i think they are lovely vans, love fords!
i couldnt get one for the price i was looking at unfortunately.
enjoy your van m8!
-
thanks !!
you know, the problem is that to get the right payload I needed either a t220 or t230. Thing is, if you get a high payload van it's because you need to shift a lot of weight !! . . so most of the ones I saw were so beaten up it was untrue !!
Was getting so fed up of looking at crap !!
Anyway, yesterday I drove 2 1/2 hrs to view a van that apparently was "excellent !!"
unfortunately it wasn't !! So, depressed I headed back to my parents house as that was on the way home. My wife said she'd look on ebay in case there was one to view on the way back.
One had been put on there an hour before just round the corner !! . . I went to see it and it ticked all the boxes . . plus it was in really good condition ;D
so, I'm now a happy man !! But . . I'm gonna make the most of it . . I want this van to last so I'm gonna make sure everything is done right ;D

well done paul,
i like the ford connect.
steve lowe comes on here occassionally.
and that's what he's got said it's the best van he's ever had.
he's got the lwb one i think,
i prefer the swb myself.
I do wish ford still made ford escort, i still think there's a place in the market fot it, see em wherever i go.
My escorts 9 yrs old now and even though i had a lot of prob's last yr with it;
mainly wear and tear prob's, that all come at once.
I'm still a abit reluctant to chop it in.

650l tank with a 900kg payload?
You will be very quickly on the limit if you fill it up with water.
-
when i had a ford connect t220 i only just got a upright
400 ltr tank in it i reckon anything above 500 ltrs and
you really are pushing your luck
-
Don't worry, only reason for having the 650 is that's what I have at the moment with a cage too. I'm not going to use any more than 500 ltrs in it (I'll work it out and put a red line around as a marker !!) it's just to save me buying a 500ltr tank etc.
I'll find out today if it fits, but if it doesn't then I will sell it and get one that does.
the van's 900kg so . .
500kg +65kg = tank and frame.
200kg = allowance for 2 people
50kg = 2 hose reels
30kg = petrol
then it's just the weight of double metal ladder and pointer.
it's close but I think it's possible.

Iv had a t220 for 18 months now and cant fault it! Be carefull of water in the footwells though. Despite hours of searching I finall found it leaks through the bulk head and gathers over night. Sorted it with some fibre glass and hammerite from halfords.

thanks for the warning :)
not got it yet . . it had a personalised number plate that the guy wanted to keep. turns out it takes up to 7 days to get a replacement reg for the van :(
-
What engine has it got because the tddi duratorq is not powerfull enough with a full load
-
it's the tdci 90hp one ;D

Dont forget your own weight ???
-
that's included in the 200kg allowance for 2 people . . only a 2 seater ;)
oh, by the way, I'm not that heavy but I've heard they say 100kg per person so playing it safe !!
-
i have a transit connect lwb high roof model at the moment as a hire van which i am using for work,
im surprised how good it is, i have my 210l tank in the back with all my gear and you cant even feel it,
my astravan is on its arse with the same weight in it.
-
;D
sweet ;D
-
not trying to put anyone off but i often see a lot of connects on the streets smoking quite badly.it's this a common problem?also depends how u keep the service records i guess
-
really ?? Anyone else seen this ? be good to know. It's got full history at 70k. I guess I'll have to make sure to keep up the servicing
-
Do they do a 3 seater model ? I need a 3 seater for taking my kids to school
-
How is it then ???
-
don't laugh . . i've still not got it !! >:(
it had a personalised plate which he wanted to keep. turns out it takes up to seven working days to get replacement reg.
what with the bank holidays etc it's still not arrived :(
as soon as it turns up I'll let everyone know ;D

Best van in it`s class the LWB 1 that is,makesure you get a ford half height bulkhead otherwise you will get a build up of water coming through to the front as said. You will have to give it a hefty amount of sealer around where it meets the floor otherwise it will still get through also around the plastic part by the where the side door opens,i don`t know how people use a van for WFP without a bulkhead due to this problem with water getting into the footwells.
-
thanks for the advice. I'm putting a full bulkhead in that I've got off ebay. I'll make sure I seal it as you suggested ;D
-
I also want to get a Connect soon. The problem with water going to front can be solved by fibreglass in a wooden strip across the floor pan between the door posts and drilling a few plug holes in the floor just make sure they are not into something under the floor and put a rubber gromite in the hole and cut a cross in the gromite so water could leak out.I have always down this all my cars boots as there will always be a leak sooner or later.
-
when I was looking for one of these I was looking for the LX air con 07 ish model
they are like gold dust you cant find that model very hard they got loads of miles etc,so ended up with a smaller, which I regret buying even though its got electric
windows air con alarm central locking :-\ very quick fastest one I have had :-\
-
I have a LWB turbo diesel one and a 500 litre tank,I have a cage type bulkhead with a little door behind the passenger seat and to be honest have no problems with water leaking through under the seats etc..
I only fill the tank to 300-350 litres full and does'nt leak,it's a Wydale tank and they leak on the lids like anything and thats why I don't fill them right up but all in all have no problems with water coming through, the tank is about 6 inches from the bulkhead and not a drop comes through,if your reel leaks I suppose it will leak but all is fine with mine and like I say I have a wire cage type bulkhead ;)
-
sweet :)
-
did u get it then paulgold?? ;D
-
did u get it then paulgold?? ;D
not yet :(
I just gotta wait for dvla to send the new reg through. could be tomorrow, could be monday !! aarrggh !!!
I've kinda managed to keep working with the help of friends and their vans and also by borrowing my wife's car to go and do some inside jobs. . quite funny turning up to window clean in a convertible !! lol
still, it's really stressfull having to work around not having a van so the sooner I get it the better !!
-
thats strange ??? only took 5days 2 swap my plates over ???
-
tell me about it !! . . problem was the easter weekend fell bang in the middle of it so that added an extra 4 days !! aarrgh !!
anyway, the papers came through thursday. he fitted the plates yesterday and to cut a long story short and stop waffling . . .
. . . I pick it up today !! yey ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hooray, maybe you'll stop pinching my water now.... ;D ;D
Only joking mate any time you like, figure I owe you one for the help you gave me when I set up all those years ago.
Though not as long ago as you. ;D
-
lol !! it was very much appreciated ;D
not sure on the tax yet as it already has some on it,
well, I have it !! . . drives very well, pulls really well.
only problem was on the way home the glow plug light flashed, engine went into safe mode and then cut out !! happened a couple of times. Quick search seems to suggest plugging in and finding the fault code.
aarrggh . . can't I at least have 1 problem free day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There should be no water on the van floor full stop! If there is, somethings wrong?
Mines bone dry all the time, twin DI's in there too.
