Title: Rainwater Harvesting Collection Query
Post by: L.Doubtfire - The Blade Runner on March 25, 2010, 07:28:23 am
Don`t know wether I`ll get any replies to this or not.
I think its one for Jeff Brimble perhaps and anyone
For that matter who`s really `clued`up on rainwater
Harvesting.
For awhile now I`m collecting rainwater at 000ppm.
After being stored for say no more than 2 days the tds
Does rise to 001 to 003 ppm.
What I`d like to know is,if I put the rainwater thru`my
1 liter 10 inch DI vessel when it`s still a 000ppm reading
Will that 1 liter of resin last indefinatley?
In the past I`ve always waited till the tds does start to `climb`.
Sometimes on occasions it does stay at 000ppm after collecting
But not often.

Thanks.

in theory water that is 000 should not affect the resin, but you only need a sligth rise and it will start to collect the dirt,  if you water is 000 - 003  should last you a while, and be ok to clean the windows with, just have to filter it

does it need to go through all the filters i.e. sediment, carbon & ro?

I`m amazed at yourself saying that Jeff,if not flabbergasted. That
Rainwater you collected 4 years ago at 001 ppm,you hav`nt put
It thru`your resin cos`I always thought ya did?Unless I`m reading
Your e,mail wrong? !
Unless that resin that you used,if ya did use it,was going spent?
Jeff,I recon mines `climbing`up to 3 ppm from being caught at
000ppm ( only when belting down) cos`of the very very fine
Particles of dirt, insects, insect wings all only visible thru`a strong
Magnifying glass.
I`ve spent most of the afternoon jet washing out my 25 liter containers
From `yonks ago`,getting rid of all the old green algie from using
Untreated rainwater.
I`m hoping that putting everything thrù`resin or even a micro sediment
Filter will stop all the algie forming.
We are getting really technical here.
What have all you other rainwater harvisters/collectors found along your
Experiences ?
