Title: thick baked on grease

hi I was wondering if there is any way to remove thick grease off damaged laminated melamine cupboard doors without too much elbow grease and water (the plastic coating is pealing away from the underside up).
I would like to be able to remove it all but know this is not possible, could anyone advise me how to do this without causing further damage. I am really nervous as I have taken on a full clean ( already warned the client I may not be able to remove the grease and the possibilities etc) but would like to try to give the client a good result.

Hi

You will be able to get it off.

use brillo degreaser, spray on a strong solution, leave to work for a few minutes, it should start to drip off. Gently use a metal scourer to strt breaking down the grease or use a scraper.

Wipe off with kitchen towel

Repeat until it's all off

Hi Martin
Wouldn't a metal scourer be too harsh causing scratches? I know the cabinets are not in good state of repair but still would like to ensure no further damage! I will look at the brillo degreaser though thanks although will have to check its ok to be used on granite worktops.

A metal scourer should be fine, the green one might do it but I doubt it, too weak for the job. A metal scourer is not as harsh as it sounds, I have cleaned the melanine on the cupboards with it before, even damaged ones, just go slow and see how it goes, the chemical should do the majority of the work if you leave it to dwell a few minutes.

Not busy as such but busier than usual for this time of year, been doing quite a bit of painting of flats, 1 a month for the past 4 months which has certainly helped. Just finished a flat on grand parade but looking for some commercial to be honest, need it to provide some stability.

How are you doing, snowed under ?  ;D

Hi Martin

We have been quite busy doing at least 3 EOT cleans per week since February, so have been lucky. We have been orkin around the Tunbridge Wells area quite a bit for a LA. We have also picked up a few commecial contracts for that stability as you say.
We must meet up for that coffee soon to see how we can help each other out.
