It depends on what the other company does. take dove soap so you would be ok with that as they don't clean windows. Call your self Ionics i think you might get a letter lol.
But if your surname was Ionics you can call your self that name .

You can't use a name that's already registered at Companies House, but those are only Ltd companies.

So you can't call yourself 'Ian Lancaster Window Cleaner Ltd' ;D

in theory u could call your self  Ian Lancasters Window cleaning service,  then it would be up to ian lancaster to take you to court to try and stop you or make you change your name, and then usually if they do make you change it, u can change it to  Ian Lancasters Window cleaning service (Burnley) or where every you are from,   providing you are using your own name

but he would have to prove that you was damaging his business, by you using his name,

i know because i owned a plumbing company by the name of 24/7 plumbing ltd and found out that some one else was using the name it was something like 24/7 plumbing barrow,  in the eyes of the law it was 2 different companys  and he never entered my area, or affected my business, so i couldnt stop them using it

As long as the company with the same name is not too local to you, then you should be ok, but remember it can work both ways!

The company with the same name may have a really poor reputation, & drag you down aswell. :)

/Hypothetic mode on.

Because I clean the windows of buildings having Ionian Columns supporting their roofs and upper structures, such as museums and courthouses I think I may call my business Ionic Window Cleaning.

I also reach to wash those windows and so I think I may call myself Ionic reach and wash window cleaning.

/Hypothetic mode off.

Do you foresee any problems I may encounter? ;D
