ive had the dial type for the past 3 yrs without any problem at all, i never understood why people said 6 mm would damage their varistream or pump, because most of use 5mm id clear pole hose.

You can run into problems if you hook up 2 different diameter hoses. We had 1 8mm and 1 6mm and got nothing out of the 6mm  ;D

Took me about 2 hours to work out what was up.

Works for me. You will invalidate your warranty though with hoses less than half an inch.  Just don't tell them.

right wired it all up today and surprise surprise as soon as you turn up to 5 or more runs and cuts out using 6mm hose can only guess this can be the issue

Can anyone shed some light for me?

i have a digi varistream  with 6mm for 3 years with no problems, you may need to adjust your pressure cut off on your varistream settings.

What pump is it wired too( i have a shurflow) as you will need to bypass the pumps own pressure switch first before you go any further.  And do you have the instructions on how to change all the settings on the varistream if not i can e-mail the ones i have too you.

Over the last 4 years we've run analogue and digital Varistreams with 6mm hose and never had a problem.  Now run two digital Varistreams with Shurflo pumps in each van, normally set to 3 or 4.  Never needed to change the internal settings.

is there any benifit from having a digital over a dial varistream?

Sometimes when turning a dial Varistream on and off (by pushing the button in) it is possible to slightly adjust the setting as it can turn whilst you push it in.  With a digital Varistream the on/off button is separate. Just my view.

You can only (new) buy digital Varistreams. The non digital ones are discontinued.  I my opinion the non digital ones were much better - less complicated.
