I just purchased one of these machines as a backup machine....can anyone tell me if theyre any good....and I guess you still have to pre-spray, but do you need to agitate the pre-spray, or does the fivestar do that for you?
-
Hi Scott
I own a FiveStar it is great for very small jobs and stain removal etc
when you say backup machine do you mean for your small jobs or your day to day work?
Myself I use my Eclispe for my day to day work and my advantage for my back up, and for very small jobs I use a Fivestar, Spoting Pro or Gem Extraction Machine
I would agitate before cleaning with this machine
Hope this helps
Regards Gavin

hi gavin
I use a woodbridge (40 litre)for my main every day stuff, but as you know, sometimes you do get small jobs to do. I was after a spotter, but couldnt find one cheap enough. I had a part bust on me one day in the middle of a job, and it was embarassing having to return 2 days later to finish it, so I thought "backup" was needed...I found this one on ebay for £350 and bought it...It looks "easy on the back"...although I should imagine it's not much good for stairs as it has a short hose, and the tank capacity is only 11 litres, I guess if you were felling lazy one day,and didnt have stairs to clean, , you could keep refilling a few times. ;D

Scott
You can do stairs with it! If you put the Fivestar at the top the top of the stairs then clean half way down them, then put the Fivestar at the bottom of the stairs and do the other half upwards ;D ;)

gavin
yer, i thought of that, but then I thought of buying a portable stairlift from ebay ;D ;D

superb if you have not got one why ???

hi gav & ron
Begining to get the message already...Prochem is only down the road from me...so I guess it shouldnt be a prob....they should be ok for the odd livingroom and hallway which i get a lot of.......hacks me off when they decide they want the stairs and landing done when I'm half done though.....especially when its a hot day. :) :)

I have a five star it is great, to sort your stair problem out you can get an extention hose for this machine approx £65.

paul
As you have one of these machines, perhaps you could fill me in on how to use it properly...Havnt used one yet...for example, would you activat the spray button on the forward motion, and suck up backwards ??? also, it dosnt seem to want to move forward on the carpet ??? dont have a manual...would appreciate any help.
-
Hi Scott, the machine does not operate on a forward motion that is why you will experiencing difficutly when trying to push forward.Activate the spray button as you move the machine back aross the floor and to move it forward lift onto rear wheels.
Spray an area of approx 3 sq yards with pro chem pre-treat using a hand spray pump, then agitate area with brush, then using machine with pro chem clean n rinse fluid pull machine across the same area, repeat this action until the area you intend to clean is complete.
dont forget to order your extention hose.
Please ask me as many questions as you please, ie advice where to buy cleaning fluids ext hose etc. Paul

Can only go forwards :o What a strange machine ! ok thanks for that paul...think i'll fit some mirrors on the damn thing ;D

I am a amazed. This Forumn has knocked the Rug Doctor on a continious basis.
Could you explain how the Five Star is supperior to the Rug Doctor Widetrack Fast Dry
The reason I ask is that I believe the Five Star has similiar specification to the Rug Doctor
-
Have I missed a post on this thread? I can't for the life of me see where anyone has mentioned, let alone knocked the Rug Doctor here.
Why bring it up now Ian? Sure it's been discussed many months ago but why start your post with such a strong statement? Why not ask the question then rather than now?
