i was thinking i only put the ladders on every other month, (GUTTER CLEANS) is it worth the gain in fuel consumption having the roof racks on for the charge in emptying their gutters? they say you use 5-10% more fuel with them on so my van costs £80 to fill up every 2 weeks, am i losing about £15 a month in fuel to the unused roof racks? its a 20 minute job to take them off/on, which i really cant be bothered to do >:( but might rethink it if i save £££ a year

just read on www.roofbox.co.uk that it can be up to 15% more fuel consumption :o
does anyone know if you can fit a spoiler to direct air over the rack?

I guess that extra fuel consumption would be at higher speeds though.
If you only did local it wouldn't be as much would it? I don't know.
But it's a thought isn't it

Very true - round town at 30mph it's not a lot of difference but at 50 plus it starts to show and at 70 it's quite significant. Weight is a factor too - but not really if it's just bars and not a full rack.

my fuel consumption has just gone down quite a bit! ;D ;D

put the roof rack inside the van that will save fuel ;)
