Title: best RO?

my tds is 339 ppm, I've just checked it again. I'm gonna end up spending a fortune on resin at this rate. whats the best ro filter to use. Would an ro get the water to 000 or would I still have to run it through the resin to finish off?

depends how much water you need to make, if you want the best and quickestgo straight for a 4040 (40inch ro) most expensive but makes water the quickest, less hassle and will last longer than 100gpd 200 300 and 400 gpd and merlins.

i too would recommend a 4040, but people dont realise there are several to choose from. If i were buying one now, i would go for a HF5 Type, pretty much perfect imo.

Cost about £300 including the housing. You'll get tons of water from that and it will last ages.

thanks for feed back.I'm new to pure water as im sure you can tell but have got on really well with the wcw backpack and plan on using wfp much more as i progress and therefore will need much more water. all the best. Tom.

Hi Tom,

I think a 40-40 may be a bit OTT for you.  I was running an RO-man 300gpd and I was supplying three of us with 400lt each per day.  The full 40-40 set up with prefilters and pump (if necessary) could set you back £600-700.  It will make all the water you need in about 2 hrs a day.

Before you decide check out Pure Freedom's 300gpd pumped system - I've just got one for one of my blokes and with an 18" DI and 25lt resin and a TDS meter it came to £425.  The resin should last you at least a year and the RO membranes at least three.  All you will need to replace are the prefilter elements at about £30 a set every six months or so.

Hi. You started looking at a cheap system of mine on ebay and then others seem to be steering you towards more expense.  Before you decide big or small you need to know how much water you need to make, is the system upgradable to produce more.
