a vikan brush i think it is what i already had
a tap from pure freedom!
Cost of about £20
best pole you could have for all downstairs work doors and conservatories are a doddle.
Less than 4ft long!

Or you can really splash out for a telescopic aluminium one.
You only have to take out the screws and the mop and fittings come off.
The plastic thread of a metal broom handle fits in the end and is held in with a self tapping screw

yes and a very light pole itis,you will not find a better pole for downstairs windows and doors,i have various poles and this is by far the best for downstairs!
No getting in akward spaces it does it all with ease,don't knock it till you try it!

While having a good look at your picys-did notice that you could be using a xline trolly? If yes what settings do you use for deep cleens and for repeat work-if no then please ignore!!
Like the set up-might be a trip to wilko for me!

yes m8 it is a xline and very good itis too,i always have it on 3 or 4 never bother going above that,it always is more than enough on 4.what about you m8?

Am just starting out- just got kitted out first test was friday- loaded up highest setting-25 litres gone!found out through trial and error that done my house on setting of 2-3. We have ill fitting windows as well and got water in one of the bedrooms! :(

yeah i dont go higher than 4.clean your frames and sills first.then do the window up and down and then rinse off starting at top going sideways an a z motion!
you can do a upstairs window in maximum 30 secs,get yourself a tap or trigger and you will save a lot of water and time.

Sorry. Didn't mean you to think I was knocking it. Not at all. I really like it when people do things for themselves. I wasn't knocking it. I always salute originality, but this time with a bit of tongue in cheek.
What I would like, though is a little more detail.
How about a picture of the top end. Were you able to screw the angle arm directly to the pole or did you fix it some other way. Did you glue or rivet it in place or just tighten it? How did you make the hole for the water pipe to go through? Is the hole round or oblong? How did you make it@ Did you have to smooth it?
A bit more detail would help other like-minded but less-experienced people to learn from what you've done.
I think that's the spirit.
Oh, and a note to ian1965: Well spotted seeing the trolley. It took me quite a few moments to see it.

right basically its the wilkos broom with brush for £1.67
unscrew brush
then the angle adaptor screws straight on exact same thread
saw the top end of handle off with hacksaw
drill a hole through the pole a couple of inches before angle adaptor
get a file and smooth edges around the hole
now get some pipe and thread it through and then connect to brush via a y piece connector.
then i attached a tap onto it,basically that isit m8!

heres the two i made yesterday for similar work

i cut an old 24ft pole down to 3ft some sections are shorter, but i still get 12ft out of it. its very usful i have a run of house that out the back the tops can be done from the top of a out building then one of the bottoms on each house, are really tight in against a wall so the 3ft collapsed pole fits in easy.
its a pain when you either take a full length pole with you or if you have to take 2 poles with you.

the 2 i made for about 30 quid from parts brought second hand on fleabay a few fittings and 2 poles for a tenner and a hours work

im thinking about doing my harris,i have about 3 of the threads to fit angle adaptor on.
i will drill the bottom and then pipe through and then put a trigger or tap on it,only reservation i have is im not sure if its gonna be long enough!
but i have one sitting in my utility,im gonna have a go tommorow!
I bought two Harris poles today for £30 for both. I have a 'sheeth' that my brush head fits on (Emporium used to sell them but I don't think you can buy them now) and all I have to do is hacksaw the top bit of the Harris and my brush head just slides on the pole.
Takes under thirty seconds to do; depending on the hacksaw blade.
It's a nice pole for banging about on domestic work.

So ive read some were you can make the harris longer with unger poles. The Unger no 1 will fit the end of the harris, and the no 4 fits over the bottom if you take the black plastic off.

that would be handy,i have a unger pole aswell,about a 6ft extending one so if i can put that on the end of the harris then it would be big enough!

i just took a old worn out pole, stripped it down to bits, cut it in 3 section 3ft long got some new clamp levers glued it all back together, its great for shops, bungalows, i wouldn't be without it.

You can drill out the rivits on the harris pole saves sawing it down

ive just done my harris pole,i left the metal thread in,all i did was put angle adaptor on and some trusty black gaffer tape and its rock solid!
