Try ... chris at scf.... he around 40 quid... and can reco a host for a tenner per year.

he did mine.. basic but ok....as they bring no work in at all...

they a waste of time really, its just a potential advertising outlet that really does not work...but makes you look a little more pro,

seperates us from the dole boys. ;D

I built my whole round on leaflets... but that takes time..  2% on leaflets for me... so you can imagine ,i blitzt it.

door knocking  is the best way to go....

keep going...some days 3 or 4... other days ten...some 20 ...judging by the guys on here....

but you have to hit it all day..and a 100 leaflets  are ok ... but 100000 are better !!!!

Gazza, websites are not a waste of time, maybe £40 did not buy you a website thats done correctly I do not know as not seen it, I get work all the time from my website so they are defo not a waste of time.

a website that does not work is a waste of money and if you pay £40 for something that does not work it is very expensive even though a little amount of money.

To the person that started the post.

Good luck with your site, I would go for it, make sure seo is done on it, use your own domain name and get a email address (not a free hotmail one) they are cheap but give a far better look to your business.

I made my website free

http://souterwindowcleaning.weebly.com/

Its hosted on weebly.com

I had 3 pages up and running in about half an hour (I have some computer savy but not much). It's free to host but I need to pay to get the weebly bit off the address.

I have got almost all of my customers through flyers. I have never knocked on 1 door, because I personally would never buy anything off someone who knocks on my door.

I have considered investing money in the website but as suggested already I don't really think it will generate much business, I only want it to separate us from the dole boys.

Formb, I've just looked at your website and in particular your photos. Christ, if you sent that lot around to my place, wearing the hoodies and all, you'd scare my missus half to death.

Do they really all go out each day looking like that; they look like they're on a day out from the detention centre ;D

Cheeky b*t*rd I happen to think we are a smart well presented lot. ahem.

We tend to go round in twos so we really are not all that intimidating.

We do wear the hoodies, I have tried other uniforms, high viz vests and the like, but I found that there was a lot of a*se kicking to be done to get the boys to wear them. The hoodies will be shelved shortly because we are going to get an extra long extra hot summer this year!  ;D

I did mine on http://www.officelive.com too.

Very quick and easy to do if you have some time to play about with it, just make sure you put in your keywords and metatags when setting up your pages.
They also have a forum where you can get help from other users.

Hi Buddy
My bro does websites ..charged me £300 for my website and i love it (feel free to make your own judgement)
He is really good with SEO and his sites conform to googles likes apparantly...all rocket science to me :)

Like everything in life (generally) good things arent cheap and cheap things arent good
Always worth paying a bit more and getting a proper job,hw will get you dirt cheap hosting too.Dont be caught out with cheap websites that charge you so much a month...cost you more in the long run

If you want his details... message me and ill pass them on

I've built loads of websites, and I will tell you all one last time that office live, yola, vistaprint etc etc are RUBBISH!

Sure you can build a nice looking site,.. but its much harder to get a free website ranked properly in Google than it is a proper website. It no point having a website at all if no one can find it!

£300 for a site is about right,.. depending on what you want you might even pay a little more. The investment should return to you in 6 months maximum though.

Personally, I picked up €6k annually worth of work from my website last year,.. and my website is old & in need of an overhaul!
