i will be getting a new van in a couple of months and i was thinking of starting with a trolley system with DI.
HOW DO THEY WORK?do you fill your 25lt containers with tap water then when you attach them to trolley they go through the pump/resin then pole and brush and hey presto!pure water! ;D ;D
tap water is 35 tds.
im thinking i could always upgrade to a van system at a later date when funds allow.
over half my round is very compact sometimes with parking issues and i sure the trolley will be less of a trip hazard etc
also when the weather starts to get below freezing again i can bring the trolley inside so no freezing issues.
12 25lt containers=300 lts
i could always fill the empty ones back up again while im out on ajob and i need more water!there are hundreds of outside taps on my round!! ;) ;D

what do you think guys?
any of you prefer the trolley to the van mount?i know the down side will be luggin the containers about and putting trolley back in the van.but on some of my compact work i dont move my van all day!i have 10 days work on 2 big estates 3/4 bedders some with conservatoriesand a lot of varied other work.
it will be a cheaper way for me to get into wfp.im not interested in a backpack before anyone asks!i want to be able to get pure water on demand if need be.
your thoughts and experience would be most welcome guys! ::) ;D ;D
best wishes to you all

Sounds like a good idea the tds is low enough. However my only adjustment would be to go tap di container then put the container on the trolly. The reason being that you won't have to lug a di unit around all day long, keep one in the car if need be. I think you'll find you can get a trolly and di vessel cheaper than a di trolly as well.

thanks simon.
so can i just buy a di vessel and some hose and run it straight into containers so the water will be pure then just pump up to the pole/brush?
then that way im only lugging the water/battery/pump about instead of the di as well?
-
Yep why carry stuff about if you don't need to. Just make sure that the flowrate isn't too high when filling the containers so that the di can do it's job. Tap water tds being 35 if very good. Mines about 400ish. If you get 2 di vessels you can get the most life out of the resin.

Hi, I use a di trolley got it from CT East in Essex 01376 564096, My tds for tap water is 300ish so I collect rain water and use that, I find the trolley easy to use it can be picked up and put in the back of my van without to much hassle even with the di vessels!

thanks richard!my tap water is 35 tds.good job as ive got nowhere to store water as i live in a first floor flat ::)im on a meter as well so di only would be better i think.
:) :)

dazmond, your tds is similar to mine, i also have rounds where everyone has outside taps, what we need is a di vessel on wheels with handle, and a built on hose reel, no need to carry or fill water ;D something i am working on for myself now
-
dazmond keep it simple mate ie trolley, container, pump. fill the containers with pure and leave the di vessel in car/van.
my di doesnt leave the house and i have trolley/backpack and a 400l van mount
it will be a pain loading containers from a first floor flat but it can be done, and as you say you can fill from outside taps if need be, my tds is around 45 and a bag of resin lasts around 6 months

hi stu i was thinking of a hose from bath tap down my stairs to 12 25 lt containers in the back of van and just fill em with tap water then buy a trolley with DI system fitted on trolley so when its pumped up the pole/brush it comes out pure!! ;D ;D
probably take me half hour to fill em all up every night but i could live with that rather than lugging them downstairs!! ::) ::)

why not do the hose thing down the stairs then through the di and fill up with pure at the van then ;) and keep the di in the van and carry a bit of hose in case you need to top up at custys tap, if you buy a 11or 12l di vessel £70 and a backpack/sacktruck or trolley then your sorted. and you will still fill 300l in under 30 minutes.
i run my hose about 30ft to my van and do the above every night

dont worry ive been trad most of my life it seems ::). if you were using a 10inch di then that would make sense but with a decent sized di vessel just turn the tap up full and away you go ;)
honestly its not rocket science all you need is pure water, pump, pole and brush. yes if your tds is 300 its more complicated but yours isnt ;D
