tut, spoiled me joke ;D

They do work, but dont expect the phone to be ringing every 5 minutes.I would probably say you might get 5 or 6 enquiries per 1000 leaflets posted. Then out of the 5 or 6 calls, you then might only get 2 or 3 jobs!

Leaflets - now there is a question.
I always bank on my high quality, double sided, full colour, A5 - putting out 500 per drop - I always get a good response but again - the leaflet needs to be top class, set yourselves apart from the the cheap "photcopied" brigade - 500 = about 8 good paying jobs for me !
;)
-
I get on average about 4 for every 1000 that go out. If I deliver them myself it takes me on average 3hrs to deliver 500 and then I can barely walk! But it can be good fun doing it now and again when you have a spare afternoon. I must admit mine are simple cheap 2 colour leaflets so maybe I'll look into better quality.

Nigel.
i really would love to see your leaflet , you say you get around 8 good paying jobs from 500 leaflets !!!!
Have you got this figure right ? You must ne rushed of your feet.
To be honest , I would of thought a figure of around 2 per thousand is nearer the mark for most c/c and that been a solus drop.

its all about quantity delivered and how they are delivered. i too would like to see a leaflet that gets a response of 8 per 500 i would say 2-3 calls per thousand would be a more realistic figure.
printing cost £10-15 per thousand
solus dilervery £40-60 thousand
2x jobs per thousand average say £110 per job = £220.
still very good form of marketting but ou ave to get all the elements correct to make it work. Good leaflet , reliable delivery, amount. timing . it can be a logistical nightmare and trying to rely leaflets alone is no a good idea imo especially is distributing yourself as you will only have time when it is slow causing rippled work patterns
q mr haliday to shoot me down in flames he has been very successful wit leaflets i believe
-
I put out two leaflets one for blinds and one for Carpet Cleaning.
In theory I should get 6 Calls resulting in jobs per thousand.
So I should be mega rich ;D ;D
-
I think it's also worth mentioning the few jobs each 1000 leaflets bring in also bring the potential for more jobs ie. repeat custom and/or referrals.

All forms of advertsing work to some extent. Some better than others.Over the past few months we have tried cheap photocopied and nice glossy leaflets, going over the same areas. We have also done the postcard form, cheap and glossy same as above on areas. At the moment work in from cheap side and glossy side is equal, so you just can't tell what is going to work. :)

Totaly agree
Best bit of advise start data base from day one
Get Referal form letter
Consider
Argos Marks and Spencer Vouchers. £10 note new , or donation to Customers Charity or Your Charity such as Children in Need, or Virgin Foundation.
A few £10 notes in post could work wonders

I like that referrals idea. Simple and easy logistics.

Leaflets, like all forms of marketing, work sometimes but not all of the time. When I first started in 2008 the first leaflet drop I did, which I'm guessing was less than five hundred, resulted in 3 jobs. Easy I thought! I don't think I've reproduced that since. I've had leaflets delivered with newspapers at 10,000 a time, leaflets delivered by our local milkman at about 500 at a time and leaflets delivered by me at anything from 100 to 500 at a time all with varying degrees of success. What I've found though is that the design of the leaflet doesn't seem to be as important as the content. I've done two-sided glossy A5 and single-sided black and white paper leaflets and both have provided results. You've got to be realistic though and realise that most will be binned before they are read but some will be kept and you will get calls sometimes months after the leaflet was delivered. Like everything else you've got to keep at it and you'll end up with results.

I agree, it does take patience. I have had jobs from leaflets delivered up to 6 months prior on several occasions. If you have a deal on I find there are plenty of people who do keep flyers on their pinboards etc. Cut-off vouchers on flyers can be an insentive for someone to hold on to it. Just make sure you include your number on the bit that's cut off! Sorry to state the odvious!

DOH!!!!!!!
Sorry Guys - it was per 1000 leaflets, my mistake - geez !

I got a job a few months back which came off a leaflet delivered about 20 YEARS ago !.

I`ve had 3 replies in 200 leaflets, but also 0 replies in around 1000. I think it is all about timing, and regular delivery to get the name across.

Someone just touched on it. How about delivering to ther same area say every 2 months over and over again. Would that work?
Where I live we get a kebab shop delivering leaflets and they are utra petsistent. Without out fail a leaflet will arrive every few weeks. Its been going on for about a year. I never go the kebab shop but if i did then I'd go to them. Just a thought. Anyone tried this repeat leaflet delivery idea?
