Whats the best way to find an area which hasnt already got a window cleaner and get custys?
Leaflet dropping an area, and if you get a few calls then go and canvass it maybe?
How do you guys do it? and how long does it take you to get a decent round?
So far ive got 2 customers in 2 days canvassing.

how many people have you actually spoken to?
Its as all canvassing, a numbers game, if no answer leave a leaflet, when my partner used to sell windows, she would often speak to more people between 6- 8.30 at night, BUT would also canvass during the day and still pick up business, although she knew it would be "tougher" as less people in.
Weekends are usally very good as well for canvassing as I find more people are in.
Also a good tip, is every area you canvass and leaflet try and pop an ad in the local area shop/post office window for a few weeks, its just about getting your name about, then the work will flow in, keep positive and just keep going.
Also if someone asks for a quote and then wants to discuss with other half, get their phone number and follow it up in a couple of days.
Remember (cheesy but true) for wach No you get you are one closer to someone saying yes!

ive found that saturday morning between 10 and 12 is the best time for catching people in.
i also get more joy when the wives answer the door and not the husbands, anyone else find this?

Aha, well to be honest, the only peoeple who seem interested are the blokes! Got one customer whos a man, and 2 more who took our leaflet and said theyl get back to us.

Jake - those who say they will get back to you, jot down name and addy then if you do not hear from them pop back in a week or so...
quite often i have found they have misplaced/loss or meaning to ring up ! a gentle nudge works wonders
men/women/other !! - just need to find out WHO makes the decision with the money 8)

i got very good results just asking "like your windows cleaned missus/chief? " and did them on the spot . however this was when i was first starting and once i got more serious about it, i used leaflets to cover more houses in less time.
if ive got time when im out working on the street ,i still sometimes like to say to passersby "like your windows cleaned missus?" and it often works !

when i 1st started out(1989) ::) i used 2 knock the door & 2 try n get my foot in, i would say.
if they didnt like my work they didnt ave 2pay me. worked really well 4me ;D

if i get a house on a street i canvass the rest of the street!
the next time they see you they will ask for a quote!
get printed clothing on get your van signed up.

get leaflets in shop windows
advert in papers

best results r word of mouth reccomendations do
a gud job reasonably priced smart appearance
uniform etc but b confident also dont ask for
say a tenner n custy says il give u 8

I know, but they usually asked for a leaflet after I walk off.
Im like... Ok then, thank you. I then turn around to walk off, and they say, have you got a card which I can call you on.
So hopefully i get some work! :)

Put time aside each week to leaflet and blanket area.Then wait for a calls if none take a look and windows in your area they might be clean.The custy might clean ground floor but not ist and 2 floors. If they are clean there might be a cleaner in the area.I will hit that area again in 2 months again.Some people are just slow to respond.If the window are dirty I will knock on a Saterday. I found new areas are always good for me.
