Hi, Went for a first clean this morning at a customers house only to have to walk away because of problems i was having with the windows. The rubber seals were making such a mess when i applied water and fairy to them (trad) that it was near enough impossible for me to clean the windows, it was like boot polish or back to black had been applied to the rubbers and was running all over the white pvc, so out came the cif but after about half an hour of messing around i told the customer i would have to leave the windows and seek some advise! Seals look in good condition, not perished. Any ideas how to resolve or is it just new seals? It was literally like running you finger over black boot polish.

Nightmare aren't they? Old perished seals on some windows.
You've done all you can really. If you want to keep the custy then use a minimum of soap and don't soap to the edge. Then use your scrim very lightly and use cif to get rid of the odd mark on the upvc.
But it's fraught with problems so be careful and charge properly.

hated that when i was trad...... >:( so dont miss that now im wfp 8)

Still happens with WFP, Seals get wet and run black pigment all over the white PVC

ive got a few custys windows like that.dont soap right up to the edge and be careful when detailing with yer scrim/microfibre.they dont take any longer to clean than a normal house(about 15 mins!) ;D ;D
DONT get the cif out again!sounds like your making it hard work for yourself!are you new to this game?? ;D ;) ;D
best wishes

Pretty new mate, been going around 5 months, got round about 100 customers, never come across anything like these windows before though.

that black only seems to run out on houses not touched in donkeys years. . trouble is you cant know till it happens . i find using cif on a really soppin wet rag will get the black off the white frame and the next time you go to that house it never happens as bad again . plus if you polish up the white frame with that cif-rag the black doesnt stick to it anymore as the cif leaves a fine layer of bleach
i find its worth spending an hour or so breaking the back of a job like that as youve got the regular customer from then on even if you make no money first time around

Apparently they've had troubles keeping a window cleaner (last one WFP). Doesn't seem to matter which method used, they're still a nightmare.
