I have had a couple of A frame ladders stolen in the last couple of month, when on my way to a job today I spotted my ladders on the roof of a car, so i pulled over the driver and there they were "My ladders". How do i know this, coz i recentley put new feet on them and had to cut them to size. And what makes it worse it is a lad who had them talks to me on this forum, Cheeky Git!!!! another reason i know is that he told me his name, he is a local window cleaner in my home town, and to top it off iv spoke to him on here and helped him out no end and thats the way he repays me!!!!
He should be banned off the forum for this kind of behaviour, but if he's not i will be longer using this forum.
-
Did you get them back?
-
Name and shame
-
just 1 set the others will turn up soon
-
name him :o
-
Look, i genuinely did not know they were STOLEN!!!!!
The lad who sold them to me, told me he was getting rid of them cos he was packing the job in.
Do you think if i knew they were stolen that i would of drove round the town with them on? Its a bit like stealing my neighbours garden ornament and putting it in my garden.
you may think im stupid, but im not that stupid
i could of told you all this today, but you didnt give me the chance. Which is understandable.
-
Ryan, if what you say is true you will go to the police with Eric and report the theft.
-
no need for police cos i was there today and they let me go without charge

Totally agee!

I would be very careful with this name and shame stuff unless you can prove that it was him who actually stole your ladders you could end up in a whole lot of trouble, slander I guess etc etc, thing is the chap could of brought them from a local paper, a guy in the pub or an ad in the local paper and he might be a victim as much as you.

Did you go there with Eric though?? You need to inform Eric and the Police where the thief live. If you can't do that it doesnt look very good for you
-
Many years ago when i worked for OCS we had a ladder stolen after a few months we spotted it on a building site so the boss reported it to the police and they did not want to know, they said they couldn't prove that the builder had stolen it and he might of bought them from someone and therefore there was nothing they could do despite the fact the ladder was stamped with a serial number and had OCS carved into the wood on both sides of the ladder!
-
didnt go with Eric [gaz]
he phoned them at the side of the road, and i waited for them to turn up, as i had nothing to hide.
two vans & T5, you woulda thought i had commited a murder
-
yes that was over the top a face to face apology would be nice
-
Whats wrong with giving the bloke the benefit of the doubt?
Pretty hard to believe he would come on the forum and own up to the fact that he might have your ladders....after all you say they were yours but he in all probability didn't know that.Give the lad a chance, seems like you jumped straight in with the accusations.
-
will call in the office next week if you want.
-
Eric when you pulled him over did your start kicking off or did you ask where he got the ladder from, if someone started giving it to me and accusing me I too wouldnt appologise,
-
lets just forget about iti am deleting as a forum member

dont do that m8, not worth u losing out :-[
-
As far as I can see it seems to have all been a misunderstanding. In which case you should both shake hands and concentrate on finding the guy who did steal the ladders.
-
Deleting the acc was not really needed. Seems like sulking has got the better, which is a shame really.
Stuff like this happens all the time, stolen stuff always gets sold or passed on, so speaking should be the first port of call. not arguing or throwing accusations.
-
well all ryan got to do is tell him who the bloke was, show a receipt for them job sorted. :P :P :P :P :P
but in real life
he brought them of someone in a pub for cash who hes never seen before. :'(
work it out for your self.

Yes he was kicking off
-

-
Surely you know where you bought them?
-

Yes
Surely you know where you bought them?
i helped the police with their enquiries, to the greatest of my ability
-
cheers ;D
it has just all been blown out of proportion.
Understandably the guy is upset about having his ladders stolen. But there was no need acting the way he did towards me.
One lesson i have learned, is to pay a bit extra & buy brand new ladders from a reputable source
-

on ya own ladders tho.... hey ryan... sorry ryan had 2put in me ladder joke :-\ yer i know....

Okay when i first started i bought second hand ladders.
a 4m double for £30
7 rung A frame for £40
i already had a titan trade 3m double at home
Now, i didnt get receipts for these ladders, can i still claim for them?
These ladders are coming to the end of their life anyway, not because their damaged (still safe & sound), but because they just look tatty & un-professional. And dont really give me a "clean" image.
Im off next week to buy myself a brand new pair of titan trade 4m doubles, and will be looking for a brand new 11 rung A frame soon
A post from when Ryan first started using the forum....
Excuse the date on the quote, just copy and pasted one of his old messages......
-
??? any point to this?
-

Just read this post and I think its a bloody shame that 2 good friends have fallen out over something that they could have both been the victim in.
-
What a lot of old women you are!!! George Formby you said you already spoke to this guy in the street. Why on earth did you not sort it out then?
My wife works in a hairdressers this is how they might sort out a problem.
-
hi all
i've just noticed this post and i've been trying to work out exactly whats going on!
by the sounds of it (unless i am mistaken) the ladders are now back with their rightful owner. I think all parties have learnt a lesson and unfortunately the only person that has profited is the crooked middle man.
i hope that bridges can maybe be rebuilt - we are all self employed trying to make a living and dealing with our customers and bringing in the business is difficult enough sometimes without falling out with each other.
it was a horrible situation by the sounds of it and i think we would all of reacted in a similar manner - i just hope it didnt affect the work being done and the money coming in!
-
Good thing he ( the thief ) didn't steal anything else (re Wayne Bridge v John Terry), we'd be into the 100,000's of posts by now!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) :-*I'm with Team Ladder! ;D ;) ;D ;)
