Did a quote today to clean a lounge carpet and 2 sofas for a lady whose husband is in hospital suffering from 'Bird Fanciers Lung' also called Alveolitis !! These items need to be thoroughly sanitised to remove all traces of dust from the Parrot and its droppings (they are re-homing the parrot).
I was thinking of using a Clensan/Crystal Green solution on the carpet (maybe Multipro pre-spray) and a Microsplitter on the sofas rinsed with a Clensan/Fib Fab rinse. Does this sound ok? or can anyone recommend a better option?
They are re-decorating the lounge also.
many thanks,
Pete

Regardless of products used Pete, I would advise in all of your dealings and correspondence to only state that you will be cleaning and treating the fabrics in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. NEVER say you will remove the allergens.
The most important part of this job is going to be the pre-vaccing. Go overboard with it. New bags and clean HEPA filters. When everything looks as clean as you can get it, vac it again :o Close the door and open the window for this, obviously keeping sensitive people away from the work area. A return visit to vac again upon completion of drying wont hurt either.
As for products, if someone is sensitive to allergens, my own preference is to leave the fabrics as free of chemical residues as possible. For this reason, I would prefer to use a colloidal solution such as Nemesis or M Power with a fresh water rinse. A good dwell time, say about 20 minutes, is essential.
I'm really out of touch with detergents these days, so others will give relative advice on these. Crystal Green though is a problem solver and not appropriate to your problem.
Safe and happy cleaning :)

check what you can mix clensan with pete, either ring prochem or mat at cleansmart, sure i was told not to mix it with certain chems.

Kens personal choice is a real good one - using a colloidal such as Nemesis or M-Power.
Because of the bad mouthing of more then a few of M-Power, many carpet cleaners may dismiss it. However many more use it to its full advantage, and it has many. Nemesis probably suffers because of what is said of M-Power, but is also a good safe product that has many uses.
I have used both, so can speak freely of both, which I suspect is more then most of the knockers.
Pete, take Kens advice onboard and consider one of the two products he mentioned. I too think they will work well on this job.

check your 'sheets but i think sanifresh or microsan might be more suitable.

Thanks guys for all the advice.
I will double vac everything as suggested.
I do have some M-Power which I could use (a sample bottle I got a while back). I know that you can combine fib/fab rinse with Clensan to provide a sanitising element to the clean, but I will check it out with my local supplier.
cheers,
Pete
