Title: Outside Supermarkets.
Post by: cockney rebel on February 27, 2010, 09:00:17 am
I'm thinking of either getting a stand set up inside the supermarket or standing outside handing out leaflets. Has anybody else tried this & what was the response?

My wife does this with one of her business's

It works quite well for her. She has a little questionaire and there is a chance to win a mini.

If you had a draw for some kind of prize I think more people would be inclined to speak to you. Say the top prize is a free internal & external window clean. Maybe a few balloons for kids. Could work quite well I reckon.

i think if your standing outside of a supermarket  handing out leaflets and they see you they will boot you off, plus i think people come from all over the place to a large supermarket so you work could be really spaced out, but you never know till you try as every area is different.

worth a try,but i would say make your leaflets eye catching or your maybe have the job of cleaning them up from the car park. i think taking names and a free draw is a good idea, maybe target one service such as facia cleaning.
good luck keep us posted, if it works we will all be doing it

sgibsoncleaning it does work i used do this for conservatory cleaning but i would just watch cars that came into the carpark on stick a leaflet under their wiper blade,

i would do this a month before i was going to start them as when you get calls it gives you a chance to organise your work load into areas.

I thought of this a while back, but wasnt too sure of the success rate. Thought the potential is good!
Also thought of and was mentioned too about the car window screen. But thought a lot of people would think this was a bit rude??

down side people come from all over to supermarkets not just the local area you could have lots of interest and be running all over the place

Trouble is with this is that you wont be able to "choose" where you work and , as someone else has said , people come from miles around to supermarkets.

You might get a call from someone wanting their windows cleaned on a 5th floor flat 10 miles away.

I could see it working on fascia cleaning etc tho

This is something I'd be interested in doing.

You would need some before and after pictures, large ones. Also some kind of sign to get peoples attention. You could have equipment on show.

Alternativley you could have a sign with a fascia / conservatory pic on saying your company name and what you do.

Competition to enter for a free fascia or conservatory roof clean. People fill in a form with their details.... Name, address, tel, email, a little survey on their property cleaning (windows, fascias, conservatory, gutter cleaning)

Maybe try to get it in the local rag ?

If you have to get permission from the supermarket manager wouldn't he than charge a fee for using his carpark / doorway???

Just thought you may have to do a fair bit of work just to break even ???
