Title: Pumps - what wears out?
Post by: ftp on February 26, 2010, 05:55:36 pm
Had trouble a couple of weeks ago with my pump not priming itself. In a panic I bought an identical new shurflow. However when I took the top off my old one I could see nothing wrong with it, put it back together and it worked  ???

Today I got to my first job and same again  ??? Air lock that the pump couldn't cope with. Finally got it going (whilst the customer shouts out of his window "not today"  >:(  )

When I got home I fitted my new one - this easily primed itself sucking through completely empty pipes and strainer and even ran at 3 instead of the usual 7 on the varistream.
Trouble is I can't hear the new one  ;D

Is it worth fitting a service kit to the old pump, bin it, or sell it to a newbie?
