Title: H&S at its best
Post by: Ste M on February 25, 2010, 12:21:30 pm
Popped to the bank this morning and on the way back i spotted a man cleaning windows on a pub with a mop ??? then when i actually saw how he had got up there i spotted his ladders resting against the pitch roof with nothing holding it on, he was at full rech as well, i spun round and went back to take a second look and a picture. he had no turned pro as he had a soaper on his extension pole and had moved around to the next window. I love expert newbies  ;D

 :o

I admit I have did some windows kind of like this, but I never stand above where the ladder is resting against. The locking joint will be forsed out the way instead of in, and could seperate or slip out. That guy is clearly a plank.

If I was doing them windows I would have just used large trad extention pole, it would have done all of them allot quicker and safer.

the picture doesnt do it justice really, he was stretching to his limit at some points, its a good 4ft-5ft reach over the pitch to the window

shocking pictures but not surprised, seen someone doing something simular but not as bad earlier on today

that guy should be taken to court for breaking every health and safety law in the book

makes me happy that i'm WFP and not some cowboy ladder monkey

Got no probs with ladders but using one on that job is shocking not only is he above the tipping point (is that really what you call it?) its clearly been raining as well so the pavement is no doubt even more slippery than usual.  Take a close look at the photo I reckon his arse cheeks are clenched together and no wonder why, he must have been crapping himself doing them like that........

The sad bit is this guy and others like him are the reason the H&S are on our backs with their ever more impractical rules.

So what happens? Idiots like him fall and kill themselves and we feel the heavy hand of the H&S.

Do they really believe that rules and regulations will stop prats like that from adding to the fatality statistics, or is it just easier to ignore them and clamp down on responsible window cleaners?

Its always the same, law abiding people are easier to prosecute because we consent to be policed and so suffer for minor mistakes.  Criminals outside the law get away with murder.

look even more careful and the previous windwo he was doing to the right with the mop is also on a ramp, how he never fell into the road doing that is unbelievable, i may pop in to the pub tomorrow and give them one of my flyers.
