Hi, I have been a member of this forum for over five years, but this is the first time I have ever posted - I want to thanks all the contributors who have shared information and experiences which have help me to build my business.
I run a small cleaning business which does a fair amount of carpet cleaning. Generally most of the carpet cleaning has been subcontracted, however my main subcontractor has now relocated to Birmingham where he is setting up a franchise operation.
Ideally, I’m looking for someone else to fill his shoes. Just to be clear - we cater for the middle market and our prices reflect that. I realise that many of the contributors on here target the top end of the market, I have deliberately pitched my prices in the centre range to maximise volumes.
Our average residential job is worth around £75-£85 (inc VAT), whereas a typical commercial job is worth about £230 in total. Additionally, we frequently undertake end of tenancy work (EOT) - where carpet cleaning is almost always involved, the average EOT is worth £220. These are only average figures and there is a very wide range from the biggest to smallest jobs, we have done some jobs for as little as £30 and one large commercial job for more than £6000. Typical prices per sq m range from £1.25 - £2.50 - depending on the carpet type, floor area, condition and job location.
Gross revenues are usually split with a subcontractor on a 50-55% basis (in his favour), however - there is always some room for negotiation on some jobs. My main London operator generally handled 30-45 jobs per month, with a value (to him) of £1500-£3000. These jobs covered the whole London area and sometimes ventured into the Home Counties.
If anybody is interested and they are comfortable with rates on offer, please contact me (osmore2@hotmail.co.uk), or post your own contact details below.
Many thanks,
Darren
