Title: opinions on my leaflets please
Post by: rich fraser on February 23, 2010, 01:00:53 pm
Hello people. I have been signed off work for 8 weeks so thought i would have a go a designing some new leaflets. I couldnt save the draft as jpeg so  i couldnt attach it to this topic so i have copied and pasted it. Was going to have it on red card(same colour as my van) with white text, on A6. Not sure if to have whats below on both sides. The top two lines (RFWC) are my logo off my van but the rest was just going to be text. Any advice appreciated, thankyou.

Hi,

Sure looks good to me.

There was talk on a similar thread about using the royal "we" for some marketing benefit, even though being a sole trader, so maybe someone might be able to explain this.

Yeah nice one gets the message across. One thing that may help try and make the cleaning the "frames" stand out a little or underline frames. Just a point, no critizium. only i find this made a big differences on my flyers after i did just that. Makes us stand out from the wc who only cleans the glass. ;)

Are you printing them yourself? Ony ive just had some done and would strongly reccomend the company i used. £57.00 include delivery. 5000 a6 full colour glossy both sides.

I wouldnt put thank you for reading the advertisement, and also agree you should try to put across that you are a business and not a person.

e.g. instead of...
I personally work to the highest quality at the most competitive cost. I am regular, reliable and provide free quotes. Local references available on request.

I would put...
We offer a regular and reliable service and at a very competitive price, call now for and free quote and see for yourself!

reference
"Mrs Lyle: I am very please with the services provided by frazerKleen, they are on time professional and curtious, with and excellent standard of work, at an unbeatable price".

When I started I asked some of my customers to fill out a feedback questionnaire with a disclaimer saying any comments maybe used as a reference on promotional media, then used the comments as shown above. It worked well and the customers were fine with it, I asked three custies, and just picked two I liked.

This is being very picky, but you probably provide free quotations.

Unless you really stand under balconies and say, ...

"But soft, what light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east, and Juliet is the Sun.
Arise, fair Sun, and shew the palid streaks
left by the previous shiner, twill be no more.
For I with water and with pole
Will leave your window so much brighter than before."

i disagree, put "i " if you are a 1 man band , "we " if you are likely an expanding sort . "i" means the customers gets the main man, not a half baked hoodie  ;D

I would drop "at the most competative cost" There are £3 a house guys now and you dont want to be one of those.

Try "outstanding value for money" or something similar.

Plus use "we" not "I"

I have seen allot of one man bands and a half baked hoody is someone times what they get. I have employees and wouldn't say my customers gets less of a service when its not me who is doing it.

There is arguements to both sides of this one. If a customer thinks its one person and they might feel that they will be cheep, affortable and local. But your customers will also treat you like a guy doing it for pocket money and not take you seriously if you put yourself across like that.

On the other court you could say that putting yourself across as a business may give the impression that you will be dear when they only want a local guy to do it. But I feel that it helps weed out the time wasters that only want it done for a couple of quid on the cheap. You get treated like a company, and wont get messed around as much in my opinion.

I have had it both ways so thats just my observation, and I guess it comes down to deciding who you want to become. A guy who can sort it cheap, or a professional service that is good value.

Good comment Ladder Garder it does depend on the image you want to present.

Personally I go for "I'm expensive" this means people who enquire know what to expect.
They also have a gaurentee from me that if they are not happy they dont have to pay. Odd concept but works really well.

I also hold the same concept, but very rarely have I ever had to use it, but it does give people a sense of security. It comes down to who would you trust if you had someone out cleaning your carpets when you were out. The guy who is on his own, no contact details other than a mobile number, no address, no uniforms etc. Or would you find it easier to trust them if they had uniforms, logoed van etc and you had a number and details of where they are based.

I know which I would prefer.

I am not saying put your address on your flyers here though, but you could if you wanted to put find us the yellow pages, or google dirrectory, or even a website if you had one.
