Hi Guys,
Just thought I see how you guys get on. Only answer if you go door knocking, no no replys saying "I dont door knock" :)
What is your average close rate. i.e 1 in 10 or 1 in 100
And how many would you sign up on average when you spend 4 hours solid door knocking.
Just an average and please please be honest, I am sure there may be some that like to boast adding a few extra on you tally hehe

Its all numbers game mate, ive knoceked a estate and got £95 in a hour and 15 mins, also knocked for 8 hours and only got £60, you can knock and knock on lots of doors then knock on 4 and get all of them, ive had this.

Very true
But the more you knock, the more you can get an idea of the return. I reckon to develop enough work to give £700-£800 per week turnover in about 6 months. I've done it six times over the last 4 years (bit of a break between each one) so that gives a fair idea. When I'm building a new round I knock one or two evenings a week and Saturday and Sunday for about 4 hours each day. Say about 80 -120 houses per session.
Some days good, some days disastrous - actual jobs per 100 knocks is difficult to say but I'd estimate overall about 2-3.
Back in the good old days it would be 30-40 but that was before all you lot started up :P ;D ;D

3 an hour used to be my average.

Are these stats for door knocking only, or leaflet drops followed up by door knocking. ???
-
in my case knocking only

hi, bit of a change of subject to knocking.
I delivered 250 leaflets on an estate yesterday and have picked up 8 customers, cleaned 4 of them today (£35 worth) all happy for me to return in 4 weeks.
I know knocking works but I would not have covered 60 houses knocking in the time it took me to deliver the leaflets!!
Hope this helps

If you got that many just from a leaflet drop, there seems to be a shortage of window cleaners on that estate.
I guarantee if you went round again and knocked on all the doors where you delivered leaflets you would pick up a lot more. People are lazy, they see the leaflet and think 'That's a good idea, I'll give them a ring' but they never do. Every time I go knocking (I leaflet first) I get: 'Oh, I was going to give you a call.....' Most times that turns into a job, but it wouldn't have if I hadn't knocked.
Get out there and make the best of it......or tell me where you leaftletted and I'll go do it ;D

I knocked a street tonight, on an estate that I've already got quite a few customers. There was 64 houses and I would say that roughly just over half answered (32-38) the others I have leafleted. I got 8 confirmed, I would guess that on this particular estate no other cleaner has canvassed it in a long time. There are other cleaners work the estate but are not actively looking for new customers.
But I've knocked in other parts of the town and had a very poor return. It's just a process of elimanation.
