Because of the snow i'm doing some wc books. It's year three for me so i should know by now but what would you say are the expense catergories?

I'm not asking can i claim for a phone or office but what you think the broad headings should be, or what five or six broad headings you use?

I used to have a lot of headings, but a lot of the above expenses now go under "misc"  ie insurance and stationery ( bearing in mind Dave@st ives probably spends a lot more on stationery and insurance than i do!!)

It is not good to make less accounts on your books e.g. Fuel, vehicle and maintenance These account should be separate as the tax man would have a guide  budget for each one and you will not raise questions if account are to large amount .This will create suspicion and  could be looked into. The same as office equipment, consumables and stationary. Keep these types of accounts separate.
