I think Dave pointed out that it gives you a certificate which enables you to tick the 'Health and Safety box' on forms you may receive to be able to tender for larger contracts.

I wonder if it can also get certain types of insurance costs down as well?

Didn't cost a penny for me or my staff- goverment funded! Been a wc for 17 yrs so I too would like to think that I know it all!  This sort of training or any forums weren't about when I started  in '93 but like most I went in blind.  Really looking to kick my business on this year and if means I have even a slight edge over someone who's tendering for same work as me, its worth doing. Not really bothered what people on here think, it's my customers and potential customers  I care about!

i would get ur NVQ now y it is free,  give it a few years and it will be a standard that u have to have to be a wc,  and will cost a bomb,  u will end up needing it for insurance and i dont think it wil be that long after these are standard that u will need a licence and part of that will be ur NVQ,  its the way everything is going,  look at plumbing sparks, plasters etc all need a NVQ now

Why should we be any different, people on here go on about not wanting to be classed as doleys after beer money, but wont go on a NVQ course to say look i am a proffessional

i know hitman,  but the way everything is going NVQs will be every where,  and we will need one, i know gas fitters with NVQ and gas safety cards i wouldnt let touch a gas pipe, but they are qualified to do it,  and it will end up the same with wc
