well iv not long took over a round and most are monthly,just on the second clean now and had a few saying "has it been a month already" think the problem is the old w/c had to much work and even tho he was suppose to be monthly think it was more like 6 weeks+,they dont realise a month does fly by,another problem i think is if they are late paying by a week or so they think once they pay you then they dont expect me again for a month from the pay date if you know what i mean by that, i dont want to lose any if possible as i need keep building work up now only got around 130 houses
I think some custys may get sick of me calling monthly in the next few cleans so instead of losing them i could put them on 6 weekly or 8 weekly if they do tell me they want to cancel so my questions are:
How much do you charge extra for 6weekly and 8 weekly compared to monthly cleans?
How do you put 6weekly into your books as my book is just all monthly and i just go from start to finish dont want get 6 weekly mixed up

When I first started window cleaning I had the same thing... Almost everyone would say "oh is it that time again already?" or, "can we leave it this month please?"...
I put everyone to 8 weeks, and built the rest of my round to an 8 weekly cycle, no one ever moans now.

hi mate, put every one on a 6 week cycle, that way it is just longer enough so that they dont moan
number your days 1 - 30 so every week is 5 days and you have 6 of them, start at day 1 and then day 2 and so on, tehn if custy want it done every 2 weeks but them on day 1 day 11 day 21, that way it will be every 2 weeks, what u will find is that not all days will fill up so if you lose a week you still have 5 weeks to play with and move jobs around, i do this and find it easier

i find every time you take over a round custys seem to moan and try and get away with things like the sills always got cleaned with the price or the conservatory was in with the price and if they wanted to stop the windows being cleaned then this is the time they do it you will always get this you dont know the history of the round i would keep it going every month let them get use to it otherwise you will be down then you will get other custys saying you dont come as much as the other cleaner then you lose them you run the firm not them

what do you do if customers arnt in on collection day which is friday for me,wait until following friday or charge double next time

I always have the date last done on my round card, I can then say " yes I did them last on the 26th, I don't know where time goes,"

interesting point Jackal. I read on a previous thread that 'if its due to be cleaned, clean it'. I thought that was really a good tip. I'm just building my round and ask them if they want 4,5 or 6 week cleans and tell custies its cheaper if you have them cleaned sooner rather than later. I'd like to think that if a customer chooses the frequency then they shouldn't moan. For a simple business there's a lot to learn.

So what do you do if you get two custies next door to each other, one wants every four weeks, the other wants every six. Surely you're not going to do the four weekly one, and two weeks later go back and do the six weekly one.

dunno! what do you do? I've got one on an 8 week and when I'd done the first clean I knocked the street and her neighbour said yes on a 5 week. I'm not gonna turn it down and over time may get more in the street to coincide. Its only 2 miles down the road so not sure what the answer is. Anyone got any tips ???

Best thing I could advise is, decide how often YOU want to do them ie four or six weekly. I only do four weekly, so if a new custie says "how often do you come round" I say every for weeks, give or take a couple of days due to the weather. Not had one say that's too often"not yet anyway". :)

thanks bbdl. I think the 8 week just wanted to span it out but at the same time still have a regular cleaner. Do you only offer two options then? you could still end up in the same situation though.

i do 2 weekly 4 weekly or 8 weekly and nothing else. so no matter they are due aprox the same time. as for collecting i find only collecting on a friday isnt great and do at least one day of the week as well. if its a distance to collect i let it double up but if its close i will keep knocking till i get my money

I only offer 4 or 8 weekly, having said that I do have a couple on 12 weeks, this way they just slot into your 4 weekly round.

like stu, i let it double up, some even triple, i put them under no pressure, all pay up no problem, i just keep the cycle going,

I always drop a card thro the letter box on the day of the clean, with Mon to Fri listed across the bottom. I then circle the day I'm gonna collect and cross out the others.
It works a treat, virtually everyone hyas the right money ready and I'm not kept waiting on the doorstep, while they look thro their purse, wallet or spend two minutes shouting at their partner to see if they've got any money, before the desperate attempt to break into the kids piggy bank.
If you use George & print off a round list, it'll tell you the last time you cleaned them

ive taken to just saying "i will be around aboutevery 5 or 6 weeks" and that seems to work. a few were narked that i never come the same time but not one has canceled .. ive only been in the game 2 years and have recently ignored about ten serial moaners and replaced them quite easily with grateful customers

i say to all my custys i clean every 4/5 weeks.
90% have them cleaned on this frequency and 10% every 8/9 weeks.
if they dont like it GET ANOTHER WINDOW CLEANER!
its your business and YOU HAVE TO RUN IT!DONT LET THE CUSTY DICTATE!
any custys who are due(2 monthly) and im not down that road to clean the monthlies that week dont get done until i am!
4/5 weeklies come first/8/9 weeklies get fitted around my monthly work unless their single stand alone accounts.if they are i usually clean these bang on time! ;) ;D
